"I was hoping for a miracle, because I couldn't do it on my own." These are Kristin's words shortly before she truly embarked on her weight loss journey, and they may also be thoughts that you are having today. However, Kristin's weight loss success is proof that it is possible, and that all it takes is a little nudge to get you going in the right direction.

"I have never tried a diet so I never knew if I could actually lose the weight. I had been anywhere between 175-190 for 5-6 years. When I got pregnant I was about 190 pounds. I gained 27 pounds while I was preganant. So my highest weight was about 217 lbs, 9 months pregnant. I lost most of the pregnancy weight but I got stuck at 200. I gained a few more pounds and was at 204 for about a year. I was miserable. I hated how I felt. Small things like sitting on the floor with my daughter, changing her diaper and getting her dressed was very uncomfortable. My belly was in the way. I couldn't stand it, but I wasn't doing anything about it. I kept on eating.

In May 2003 I had enough. I asked the doctor about losing weight and he gave me Xenical. This is only a fat blocker. It blocks 30% of the fat you eat. Well it didn't do much of anything for me. I was still eating a bunch of fatty foods, and eating only because I wanted to eat. In August I told the doctor I could not take the Xenical anymore and that it wasn't doing anything. He then brought up Adipex. I said, sure why not? I had no expectations. I didn't think I would stick to a diet. I was hoping for a miracle, because I couldn't do it on my own.

Well, I took my first pill on August 9th and it was the first day of the rest of my diet :-) It helped with my hunger. It gave me so much energy. I saw the pounds starting to melt away and it felt good. I have myself on a 1200 calorie diet, 40g or less of fat. And light exercise. I do Sweatin' to the Oldies 2 every other day. And I have lost about 60 pounds now. I never thought I could do it. And I did. I read success stories on this website the day I started Phen and I cried. I never thought that I could write a success story one day. I wanted to lose the weight. And I did lose the weight! I think if you put your mind to it, you can do it too. If I did it, anyone can!!! This site has been a huge part of my success. Without it, I don't think I would have done as well as I have. Thank you to everyone who has left me posts. You are what make the difference."

A new lifestyle
What is the deciding factor that made you decide to change your lifestyle?
I didn't feel right in my body. I was going to have health problems eventually. And I wanted to be healthy for my daughter. I wanted her to think her mommy was beautiful.
What was the most difficult adjustment to your new lifestyle?
Exercising! I hate it and I still do!
What is the most rewarding part of your new lifestyle?
Being able to go shopping in the Juniors!!! I was a size 16, size 18 for a long time. A size 11 feels much better and looks GREAT!
Do you have any words of advice for the community?
Believe in yourself. You can do it if you want it bad enough.
