"I'd always been a little bigger than the other girls while growing up. It wasn't too bad until high school. I ate junk food and hung out late and didn't exercise. I was probably around 180 when I started High school. I got up to 190, then in 10th grade, I injured my knee and had to have knee surgery. I was on crutches for months and went through tons of physical therapy. Needless to say I gained weight, probably about 30lbs. Once it was all over I didn't get up off my butt and get it off. I started dating a guy and we were comfortable and I gained a little more. Then a few years later I had a little boy and pregnancy helped me put on more weight. My highest weight during pregnancy was 270lbs! A few months after delivery I weighed around 230. After that my weight flip flopped for a while going down to 207 and then all the way back up to 250. I was sick and tired of it all and in July 2009, decided that I wanted my body and life back. I have been on my journey since that day, and I haven't looked back since. I am only looking foward."

A new lifestyle
What is the deciding factor that made you decide to change your lifestyle?
I knew it was time to change when I was always tired and worn out over little things. I couldn't be the mom I wanted to be because I had too much extra weight on my shoulders. Now I can run around with my little boy and i'm not always too tired to play with him. And not to mention I will be setting a good health example for him once he is old enough to realize it. I love it!
What was the most difficult adjustment to your new lifestyle?
The hardest part of losing weight is the first couple of months, getting used to eating healthier and sticking to it. Those first couple months are seriously horrible and HARD, but once you get past them your body actually starts to get used to the new lifestyle and its gets much easier. You'll start to have a lot more self control. Also after a couple months you'll start seeing some results which is good motivation!!
What is the most rewarding part of your new lifestyle?
Looking in the mirror and being proud of yourself is the BEST feeling. Also having others say how amazing you look is so rewarding. I feel so much better, its great!
Do you have any words of advice for the community?
Every day of your life is going to be a challenge. It's up to you to make the right choices. Make a choice to eat healthy, a choice to eat to live and not live to eat. If you cheat your diet one day, its not worth giving up over, it just means you work harder the next. Determination is the key to success. Keep a positive attitude and no matter what, never give up. You can do it, and as long as you believe in that, you will succeed.
