I’m taking the phentermine 37.5, prescribed by my doctor. I started 3 weeks ago and I’m down 5lbs. I had hoped for more but apparently this is around average. I feel tired all day then I could easily stay up all night some nights, but I have to force myself to sleep and force myself to eat too. I’m not very impressed so far, I expected the side effects to stop by now and for more weight loss too, seems a lot of trouble and risk to health for 5lbs. Read less

After a car wreck in 2012, I went from a sturdy 260lbs (I'm a big tall guy) to 325lbs. Exercise isn’t an option due to my injuries and my weight wasn’t helping with the pressure on my joints. I went to the doctor earlier this year and started on this medication in March. My first weigh in I was down to 311lbs and last week after 2 months I was down to 299lbs! I cut out soda and beer and drink water to help with the dry mouth now, but no big changes – I’m just not hungry. I have a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast, a sandwich for lunch and a plate of whatever’s for dinner. Read less

I wasn’t obese, just at the edge of overweight and wanted to be in the normal range and lose my tummy. My doctor wouldn’t prescribe it so I got it from a weight loss clinic – complete waste of money. It works, my appetite was zero but the side effects were unbearable. My mouth was so dry that my tongue felt too big for my mouth, serious dizziness, nausea, mood swings, headaches and insomnia. I couldn’t even finish a week on it because I was worried about driving and fainting on the way to work. It was just way too strong for me. Read less

I used to work in a physical job but then switched to an office job after a back injury and got into the bad habit of sitting all day, eating out of habit and then going home to sit in front of the TV. I got close to 300lbs so my doctor prescribed me phentermine 3 months ago. He said I could be on it another 3 months as long as I keep losing. So far I’m down 45lbs, and that’s with strict portion control and working out three times a week. My doctor told me to add cardio to burn fat too so I am going to cycle 2-3 times a week. No side effects after the initial week with some insomnia and headaches, now nothing. Read less

I took phen for 6 months, started at 210 and got to 165 – amazing! That was last summer, and I’ve gained most of it back. So, this is my advice – 1. Eat – you may not want to but you HAVE to eat, or your metabolism will slow down so much and you’ll stop losing weight. But, watch what you eat and eat the right things. 2. Take vitamins – I got hair loss, no concentration, always tired and nearly fainted a couple times. I didn’t know that my body was crying out for food, because I didn’t feel like eating. I was probably eating no more than 500 calories some days – you need 700 a day even doing nothing. 3. Be prepared to gain the weight back, make a plan for when you come off because it’s not forever – there is no safety net. I recommend it but it’s not a miracle pill and you have to be smart about it.
