I have learned a few things.

    1. Drinking lots of water and cutting back on salt, letting go of sugar (except splenda in my coffee), and refined starches puts the cravings at bay.
    2. I am learning what food really tastes like. I have come to like lots of veggies steamed or washed and raw.
    3. I learned to take time and listen to my body. I really had to start checking myself and say I really do not need that.

And one thing I have learned from dieting w/Phen:
    The beauty of Miralax!!!!

I've learned that I can cook and be around food all day long in my cafe without having to have
a french fry everytime you take a basket full out of the fryer! And that I really really love Fiber One
yogurt...never had yogurt before and this stuff is da bomb for sure and healthy too!

And I learned today just how good it made me feel for someone to say, "You are looking sooo sexy gf"...Even if it was my gay friend Johnny...lol...he noticed my loss today for the first time! Yeehaaaaw!

My starting face! My new do, 6 months later!

Lady Shazerz---------I absolutely agree with you. When I was a child, I was also told that I needed to clean my plate. Since I have been watching my portions, I have recently realized how distorted my sizes were and how much I was making my kids eat. Not only do I now tell my daughter that she doesn't need to "clean" the plate, but I also give her smaller portions, the correct portions. If after she does eat it all and she is still hungry, I will then give her alittle more. She is tall for her age, but she is also very, very naturally thin. Just like I was at her age, hopefully she will not have the weight problems as i do, which is more likely due to portion sizes.

I have learned that CLA is a great vitamin for weight loss and if you take a Chitosan vitamin before every meal your stomach feels full with a little bit of food.
    i also learned:
How to order fast food the healthy way
    Almonds are really good snacks
How not to get the munchies.

I've learned that it really is ok to PUSH that plate away even if it only has one bite left. YOU DON'T HAVE TO FINISH IT.

I've also learned not to MAKE my daughter clean her plate. If she's not hungry, she's not hungry. Why should you have to clean your plate to get dessert or fruit?? As long as she doesn't eat anything else besides what I give her isn't that ok?? It's still LESS than she would have eaten if I had made her eat it all. I can't believe it took me 12 years to learn that.

I've learned that the slower I eat the fuller I am.

And, I've learned that an occasional slip up won't kill me...in fact it sometimes helps my body kickstart again.
Wearing these white jeans today...12/28/09..but man are they TIGHT!!

    Me too!!! So important!!

I've also learned that I have to eat to live, not live to eat. I treat food as fuel, and get my enjoyment in other places. I enjoy the way I eat, but I don't focus on it anymore... food should be treated as fuel for the body and once I started realizing that, I stopped focusing on recipes, and cooking, and OMG what am I going to eat. I learned that I deserve a treat every now and then, but I've learned how to make the treat work for me and not veer me off track. I've learned that exercise is a key, no matter how much I don't want to get off my booty to do it Everything else just sort of came along with all of this. I educate myself all the time on nutrition, how food is processed, anatomy of the digestive system, etc. I crave knowledge now, and it really has helped me on this path...

I have a cheap scale w/ a dial you have to set on zero. I've learned that if you stand on the left side when you set it then read it from the right side when you weigh yourself, you "weigh" a couple of pounds lighter! I don't think that is the kind of info you were looking for. Now you know I lie to myself about how much I weigh. I also know which clothes i weigh the least in. When i go to get weighed i wear those, I do a colon cleanse the day before and take my shoes off. (even if they're just sandals). Now you all know how neurotic and obsessed I am!

While dieting I have found that I really enjoy organic foods. I think organic foods have a better taste. Also, since the quality of the food is better my body responds with more energy and my mood is improved. I never get that lethargic crash and burn you get from processed foods.

I am appreciating my FIL's garden more this summer than I did last summer. All of those fresh veggies are being used up quicker.

Default Things you learn by dieting...

I live in a suburb of Atlanta. I usually shop for my groceries near my home. Lately, I have been stopping by the grocery store near my office, which is in the richest part of Atlanta. The deals I get in my local grocery store (SAME STORE CHAIN) are MUCH better than I get here. For instance-I can get 5 sixpacks of diet coke for $10 locally while at the store near my office, it's 3 sixpacks for $10!

Any off the wall things you have learned? PLEASE SHARE!

PS-I love the $4 copay one, that is an AWESOME tip!!
