    Everyone is different. Typically, losing 2-3 lbs a week is considered the max for a safe rate of weight loss. Some people lose more, but many times it's water, etc. Everyone has a different metabolism and rate of loss. Not everyone is willing to put in the same effort to get results. Some weeks you lose, some you don't. There is no real average... but rapid weight loss over a period of time typically is the kind that comes back very quickly if you aren't careful. Most doctors give a lower number because they understand the obsession with weight loss in this country and don't want to contribute to the dangerous ways we all deal with losing weight.
    ~2/13/08-7/24/08- Lost 17 lbs on my own
    ~7/25/08- Started Phen and lipo shots -196 lbs
    ~8/1/08- 189.1 lbs
    ~8/7/08- 187.5 lbs
    ~8/15/08- 184.5 lbs
    ~8/21/08- 179.3 lbs (16.7 first month)
    ~8/28/08- 176 lbs
    ~9/13/08- 173.2 lbs
    ~12/4/08- 173 lbs... doomed to always be 173

    Default Losing Weight

    My counselor said that its bad to lose more than 5 pounds in a month.
    Which I think it strange & not true.
    Is that true?
    If it's not than why would she have said that?
    My friend told me that its bad to lose more than 5 pounds in a week.& that you
    should only lose 5 pounds each week.
    Is that true?

    How much weight is to much weight to lose in a month?

    I'm confused
