I feel myself becoming a bit obsessed. I think though this is where I need to be to make this happen however.

I lost a lot of weight years ago that way too, not with phen, but with ephedra but it caused me to have some heart issues and I had to stop. It was the thinnest I have ever been, and I could go a long time without eating (intermittent fasting is what I did) I gained it all back though. For me now, until I can get my other health issues under control, I need to try to do it the healthy way. I could go days without eating, I'm never hungry... but I choke down alot of protein shakes I think everyone has to find a healthy balance that they can live with... what works for one isn't going to work for another.

That's the only way I've been able to lose weight too. I was on phen at the time, but honestly, it wasn't working. I'm falling back into that 'mode' again during the day but still forcing myself to eat dinner with my husband and son. I'm trying not to go back into it full force but no guarantees.

Stary, if you're not familiar with anorexia go to wikipedia and read up on it. For many people eating disorders are a way of bringing in control into their lives, and to exert control over what one eats becomes an obsession. But the best way to answer your question is for you to go to wikipedia and get a general understanding of anorexia, then you'll undestand what goth and I were referring to.

What is anorexic mode? When you never eat?

I was hesitant to start trying to lose weight again, because I know the only way I am successful is when I become obsessed with it. I warned my boyfriend what I become like and honestly, the second I'm not obsessed with it, I'm slipping back into my old habits.

I think for me, I have an intense personality, and that's either intensely eating, or intensely not eating. But I don't do a good job of moderation somewhere in the middle. I am really trying to do that this time, but honestly to stay on track I can't get side tracked too much. The second I stop "obsessing" I start absent mindedly putting things in my mouth... I dunno, there's a delicate balance for sure. And I'm sure when I lost 110 pounds in 10 months I was probably in an anorexic mode. But for me, that's the only way I've had tremendous success at weight loss.

I don't really have any answers for you, but yes I know what you're talking about!

Alot of them on here know my history...I made a thread out of it if you'd like to read it. I can easily slip into 'anorexic mode' at any time and not eat for days at a time. I lost 50lbs last year in 'anorexic mode'...and I don't believe the 'starvation mode' hype they talk about either. It's not so much that I'm obsessed with losing the weight...in my mind, as long as I don't take that first bite of food during the day then I'll be ok. BUT once I take that first bite of the day, then my willpower goes out the window. I don't eat all day long until dinner...and I'm never hungry. I used to weigh myself everyday(sometimes 3x a day) but I've recently stopped. Now if I don't weigh myself when I first get up, then I stay away from the scale that day.

I agree about the weighing... definitely back off. A gallon of water weighs 8.5 pounds. think about how much water you drink... why in the world would you want to weigh yourself once you start eating and drinking?? LOL I used to be obsessed, and it caused me to do some not so smart things. At one time I hired a therapist, nutritionist and trainer... between the 3 I started getting on track. As long as your obsession doesn't lead you to doing stupid things for weight loss, I don't think it's a bad thing (but I really wouldn't weigh that much, LOL! My goal is once a week, but it took a while to get there), and could help keep you on track. Just don't let it get out of control. Congrats on your success so far!!!

Yes I definitely have! My highest weight ever was 242lbs and I never thought that I could do anything in order to lose weight. Ur right that losing weight does make you feel powerful in many ways. I used to be so depressed, but now I'm not and I look forward every day to eating healthy & exercising! But just some advice, I wouldn't weigh so much b/c the body fluctuates throughout the day. Once in the morning is sufficient though. And although alot of others on here will prob. disagree with me, I recommend weighing every day, it keeps you accountable and helps u notice any gains b4 they get out of hand. Congrats on ur weight loss
The proof is in the pics!!! <3

    Starting over again!!!!

    Default Obsession with losing weight

So, I have always been overweight.. My heaviest was 272, which was about 2 months ago. I am at about 250 now. I have realized that I am becoming obsessed with losing weight. Losing weight has made me feel extremely powerful, and I am somewhat worried that it may get out of hand. I know that sounds silly coming from an obese person. lol. I weigh myself at least 4 times a day, and when I am at home, I mainly spend my time watching weight loss blogs or researching eating disorders. Anyway, has anyone else had these concerns?
