Anytime you get a "mosquito bite"...the little red bump....it's an allergy to what mosquito "spits" into you. I don't swell like that anymore..don't know why I used to when I was a kid but I don't think I have since I had my children 20 yrs ago. Anyway....I suspect your child is "more allergic" then most people. Like some people can die from being stung by a bee -- others it barely affects.

Anyway....after all that I agree with what the others said....benadryl and make sure you're using off or some kid of repellant if you know she's going to be around mosquitos (that's a good idea with West Nile and other diseases that are spread by mosquitos.

My oldest is the same. She has bad reactions to just about everything. Mosquitos give her golf ball sized bumps. She actually got sent home from school once because of it lol. And get her anywhere NEAR poison ivy, it''s not pretty. Her whole face swells up.

My kids are not like that, but I am. My doctor told me to up my vitamin C. Ever since I did that I haven't swelled up. I still get some bites, but they don't look like goose-eggs anymore. I would ask your doctor or pharmacist for the dosage though.

i dont have any kids either, but i have the same problem with mosquito bites, especially when i go outside @ night. My mosquito bites from the 4th of july are just now clearing up and omg i got bit everywhere! both my arms, my foot, my leg, and my hands. I think u should spray ur kids with Off! Spray, it seems to help a little. But if they get bit anyways, benadryl & caladryl are good creams to use.
The proof is in the pics!!! <3

my dd doesn't swell like that when she gets bit by mosquito's but she nasty red bumps, which she scratches and then they swell. When I say nasty bumpd I mean they are worse than any of ours. You are not alone. Love benadryal, that and a topical cream. Now the only bad thing is DD can only get benadryal at night right before bed. In the day time it makes her sleepy but she will NOT take a nap so it makes her mean

My neighbors 1 year old son is allergic to mosquito bites. He was bitten back in June and had a seizure and the doctor told her he was allergic to mosquito bites. The bite swelled up pretty good.

Hello. I do not have any kids, but I actually have the same reaction as your daughter! Everytime I get an insect bite, mosquito, bee, spider, etc. it swells up big, itches like crazy, gets really red, and hot to the touch. Once doc told me it was an allergic reaction, another told me i was just sensitive and some people are. In both cases they recommended an oral antihistimine such as benadryl and a cream such as cortisone. It's very annoying...and the more bites I get, the worse it gets! I got 18 mosquito bites in a matter of minutes last week and then a bee sting a few hours later...NOT fun! My friends just can't believe the site of my reaction! Keep in mind I am an adult, not a small child...but I think the recommendations are similar. Hope that helps.

My babysitter's 3 year old just had this happen and it got kind of big and swollen and she took her to the doctor and he said that she was probably allergic to mosquitos and to give her Benadryl (which I guess made her daughter somewhat hyper, usually it knocks you out!)

My son is like that. When he gets bit he swells up pretty quickly and his mosquito bite areas swell up and are much worse looking than my daughters. I asked about it at his 4yr checkup in June and his dr said that some people just react to the bites more than others and some people just get bit more. Just use bug spray when going to be out in evening. (which I hate to use) So we end up with benadryl and calmine lotion

I do know that kids can be allergic to any kind of bug bite. Im not for sure why it bothers so much more on the face but my son is the same way with poison ivy. If he gets anywhere else on his body it is just an itcy rash but if he gets it on his face his whole face wil swell, his eyes will swell shut and his lips will swell up. You might want to try and give her some Benedryl. It should bring some of the swelling down.

Is there a possibility kids are allergic to misquitos. A while ago my 5yr old dd got a big bumb on her head by her left eye, since it was by the eye I freaked and took her to dr the dr said something bit her I said fine so figured spider or somehting like that. So we were out side last night and a misquito bit her on her forehead in the middle. well it is swollen like the other one. It looks like a another head coming out. So I am just curious why does it get so bit. She gets bit on other parts of her body and she is fine. None of my other kids get like this. Then this kid is so delicate to everything. Sorry I know this is not a parent board but just wanted to see if anyone knew anything.
