They're (fried pickles) surprisingly good! kind of like fried zucchini...but a little tart. I wonder if there is a healthy way to make them...

I LOVE LOVE LOVE fried pickles! I haven't had any in a LONG time, but they are quite the guilty pleasure of mine! Okay, most of those fried foods at the fair sound terrible! I can't even imagine!!! I guess the only thing I can be proud of this week is that I didn't exercise at all in 7 days (because of the gallbladder stuff) and I still managed to maintain my weight.

My little victories for this week are some of the foods that I DIDN'T eat, which were:
    1. A slice of coconut pie (my favorite) that was left in the fridge at work
    2. Half a slice of chocolate meringue pie that hubby didn't eat and left in our fridge
    3. The pecan tarts sitting on the counter at home that hubby bought
    4. The Snickers ice cream in the fridge at home that hubby bought
    5. The Reeses peanut butter cups sitting on the table at home that are hubby's

Five months ago, I would have probably gorged on every single one of these, so I can say I'm proud of myself for not eating most bad things. Today was my screw-up day, but I'm gonna be better tomorrow............pwomise.
Reeses peanut butter cups.........YUMMY.......that's another one of my weaknesses. I CRAVE them right before TOM. TOM is on it's way in just a few days and I would walk a mile thru broken glass right now for just half of one lol.

i just returned from a 7 night carribean cruise. i left weighing 156 and i came home weighing 156!!! i didn't pig out like my husband and friends did, i stuck to the light menu for every meal...except one night (and i felt so gross when i ate bad). I was really expecting to gain 5 lbs on this trip! So this was quite a victory to me.

I have totally stuck to my diet for the last week and a half without phen... that is HUGE for me! I even stayed around 1000 calories per day, and managed to drop the last 4lbs I had gained. I'm back on phen now though... I used up all my will power last week!! LOL
    210lbs-170lbs 10/01/08 - 3mo of phen & 3mo of just D&E
    208.5 lbs 05/04/10 - Wk 0 (started phen again)

Mini Goal: 170lbs by my Vegas vacation in August

    Final Goal: 150lbs

I've had a deep fried twinkie before. I didn't like it, but I don't like twinkies. Hubby, who hates anything sweet did like it though. It was a frozen twinkie dipped in funnel cake batter, then deep fried. You are supposed to eat it with powdered sugar. Makes my teeth hurt just thinking about all that sugar.

I have tried deep fried pickles and let me say...HOT pickles are nasty. I've never had any of the other stuff except fries loaded with cheese.

My victory for today was NOT snacking at work. I did well today with food for not taking my phen. Now let's hope I can get through the rest of the evening without blowing it because I am kinda hungry.

LOL, honestly the only place I've ever seen that many things deep fried is the fair here.

I have had Deep fried pickles once. they were all right, a lot like deep fried zucchini but tangier/ saltier.
And cheese on a stick is a staple at hot dog on a stick, so that I've had. But the rest of those foods. No, I definitely couldn't bring myself to have a deep fried cupcake or a chicken sandwich on a krispy kreme donut bun, though a co-worker says it was pretty yummy. The snickers a few people have told me is pretty good. I have had chicken and waffles at a place called Roscoe's before and you wouldn't think it goes together but it does.

My weaknesses are really more in the italian sausage/cheeseburgers/cheese smothered fries/deep fried mushrooms and like hot fudge sundaes, but I avoided all of those too!

There are a few things I would have had a hard time passing up. YOU DID WELL!!!!!! That's a big fear of mine, being out somewhere that has all the stuff that I love and not being able to "JUST SAY NO". I hope I don't develope a social anxiety about being out and eating the wrong things.

My proud thing is getting rid of the extra 5 lbs I put on last week. MINOR set back but I got through it after crying and being depressed for the rest of the day after my DOC visit.

This is going to sound stupid, but I love 50s style clothes. I was born to late. I love the whole rockabilly look. One of my victories is shopping on Ebay and finding the cutest pink 50s dress and know that it will fit. Usually everything I like is way to small for me. Now I just need some shoes and I'm set.

Thumbs up Little Victories: What are yours?

We spend a lot of time on here "confessing" when we aren't eating right or not exercising. We also talk a lot about needing motivation. So I got to thinking today, and I'd like to ask you all to think about what you are proud of accomplishing this week, not what you did wrong. If we focus on the negative, it's always hard to stay motivated. But when we focus on what we did right and we can think of our "little victories" in times of struggle it can help us overcome the next obstacle!

Here are my little victories this week:

RIDING MY BIKE 70+ MILES IN 4 DAYS
I've already discussed this in another thread so I won't go into details.

I DID NOT GO TO CHICK-FIL-A TODAY
I had to run home over lunch today. I have to go right by Chick-fil-a which is a huge downfall of mine. In fact, Jordan, the guy who ran the drive thru and I were on a first name basis and we were even planning to get together for a poker night before I started Phen. That's how often I was there! Yikes!! I was starving by the time I eft work to run home and Chick-Fil-A would have been easy and convenient. I knew I could fit in my calories, but it's also a trigger food for me. So I said wait, what do I have at home? And remembered the head of cauliflower I bought this weekend. I went home and steamed that up in 3-4 minutes (same time it would take to go through the drive thru) and now I'm at work again totally full from cauliflower. YAY!!!

WHAT I DID NOT EAT AT THE FAIR
I went to the Orange County fair this weekend. Here is a list of the awful foods they had available that I did NOT eat!
    • Deep fried cupcakes
    • Deep fried oreos
    • Deep fried snickers
    • Deep fried white castle cheeseburgers
    • Deep fried chicken sandwich with a krispy kreme donut as a bun
    • Deep fried artichoke hearts
    • Chocolate Corn Dogs
    • Deep Fried Cheese on a Stick
    • Deep Fried Pickles
    • French Fries covered in cheese sauce (or french fries at all)
    • A whole bowl of chocolate covered berries
    • Kettle corn
    • Chili Cheese Popcorn
    • Cotton Candy
    • Fried Chicken and Waffles
    • Italian Sausage with grilled onions and Peppers
    • Pizza
    • Spaghetti
    • Ice Cream (even dipping dots and soft serve)
    • Funnel Cake

WHAT I DID EAT AT THE FAIR:
    • A piece of chicken off of a friend's Kabob
    • Several pieces of steamed artichoke
    • One ear of Corn on the Cob
    • I shared a bowl of Vegetarian Chili
    • Split a barbecue beef sandwich
    • one chocolate covered strawberry
    • and a the tiniest bite of a deep fried twinkie (which was awful)

When faced with SO many choices it's easy to "cheat" yourself! I was very proud that I was able to spend the entire day at the fair and really not eat more than I could or should for the day.

I try to keep these in mind when I'm faced with overcoming an obstacle. When I can tell myself, "hey if you can NOT eat all those goodies at the fair, you can pass up this piece of cake" or "If you can ride 22 miles in under 2 hours you can do 50 stinkin sit ups" And it helps me keep things in perspective.

I am STRONG, and I continue to get STRONGER every day. So do all of you! You've come a long way!

Tell me Phriends: What are YOUR little victories!??
