wow its good to know im not the only one who loves watches these specials on discovery health/tlc. They're all so sad..especially watching the people on Big Medicine. In a way, watching their stories helped me realize that I have a serious problem with food & if I didnt do anything I'd end up like them...

Ok, so here's my thought. With the price of food skyrocketing, what kind of job do they have to afford all this? That's an amazing amount of food and I can imagine....quite expensive if it's every day.

I saw one PBS special that was about very overweight people, it was called the 700 lbs man or something like that...it made me want to cry.....this poor guy was in a home for majorly obese people , he coudn't roll over, couldnt put on his own shirt, eventually he died...it made me so sad to knwo that there are people who literally kill themselves with food....

I thought I was the only one with the strange addiction to these shows. I love them. I've seen probably all of them. It is so sad to watch though. Sometimes I think I watched them though to remind myself that if I keep at it, I'll be there one day.

I guess it was like a kick in the a s s every now and then.

Alot of the people have enablers, it's really sad. You have to eat an incredible amount of food to get and remain that heavy. If they are bedridden, they can't get the harmful foods. I can't imagine what their family goes through, knowing that they are slowly killing them...I saw a show once when one woman went apesh*t when her daughter tried to give her healthy stuff. It's no way to live.

i used to watch a show on TLC where people who were 500, 600, and even 1,000 lbs. were living together in a hospital type facility. i'm fascinated by those shows.....i really don't understand it. i do to a point, because if i sat in my house all day, every day then that would be me! but i guess that's what i don't understand....how do people who have kids and stuff sit in the house, on the bed, and eat ALL day? i'm lucky if i can sit for 2 mins. without having to get up and cater to the munchkins. i was miserable at 200 lbs. so i just couldn't imagine it getting that out of control to where i couldn't get out of the bed. it's sad.

    Default 33,000 calories a day

I happened to come across a show with this title (above) yesterday. Has anyone ever seen it? This one guy in a day actually ate 36,900 calories. It interviewed with a few people that were I think around 500lbs that had food addictions. I can feel their pain in one aspect, because I do struggle with being addicted to food. There have been days when I am just on my knees crying and praying, because I just don't know what to do, and I just can't see a way out, and can't see struggling with this forever. (I suffer from depression also, hence the all or nothing thinking). Anyway, I really felt sad for these people and also happy that they were able to be brave and do that show, because maybe it would help them. I also felt truly humbled and greatful, that it has not gotten to that point with me, and hopefully it never will. This one lady, if she kept eating the way she was, would gain about 50lbs each month....I think that anyone who doesn't think food is the 'new drug' of America is crazy.
