I know what you're talking about...I'm only 22 but in high school I lost about 50lbs and weighed 140lbs....and I was working out a whole lot....but I still didn't really feel very good about my body because of body image issues.

Then I got sick and had to go on a bunch of different medications that brought me up to my highest weight ever..260lbs and I felt terrible about my body.....but thene eventually I started to feel fine about myself despite my weight being so high.

Finally when I decided I really needed to lose weight (high bp) I lost 50lbs with just eating right and exercise...and that's about where I am now...and even though I weight less now then I have in a while...I feel worse now about my body then when I was 260lbs....I don't know what my problem is ..I think I feel worse because gaining over a hundred pounds and then losing weight doesn't make for very happy skin....that is the only plus side to losing this weight as slowly as I have been (took about a year to lose 50lbs and been stuck for a whole 2nd year losing and relosing the same 10 or so pounds ....so MAYBE...when I've lost everything my skin will have had enough time to spring back..

ok well I'm kind of going off on a tangent :P I feel ya tho.

Anytime you lose weight, you also lose some muscle. Our bodies don't just pull energy from our fat stores, they pull from muscle mass too...especially on a drastically reduced calorie diet. Unfortunately, the reverse isn't true unless we are doing some sort of muscle building exercises, and the weight we regain is almost entirely fat.

The reason your body feels and looks different is because it IS different. Your body composition has changed, and probably for the worse

this i dont know. last night my other bff amanda was like this is the smallest you've ever been. and i was like actually no its not lol. i was like im almost back to normal where i was in high school but im still a little bigger. n she was like well you look smaller n are curvey.

so in my opinion it could be because of inches instead of actual pounds? i for 1 still feel bigger than when i last was 188. but maybe its because we're more driven to get down smaller and see the weight as bigger? if that makes any sense

It is for me. I get discouraged because yes I am losing weight, but not everywhere that I want to. I am finding that the last time I was in the low 140s that some things were smaller (boobs, gut) and it feels that I don't look different than my before pics.

Great question girlfriend...I can only speak from personal experience.....I think the last time I was down to a certain weight (I'm going to say 134) I was working out every day and just had more muscle......so I was leaner and smaller.....especially in the thighs which is my nemesis.......

Not sure if that is the case for you.....or when you were in florida and 197....I just think our bodies start to go south as we age, so things aren't going to look the same no matter what size we get to..depressing, but the truth.

    Default Yo Yo Weight

For those of us that gain and lose weight often - I have this question.

Do you find that when you are losing you get down to a certain amt. of weight that you once were and you don't look or feel that weight like you previously did? (for better or worse)

For example: The last time I was in FL I was 197 - down 31 lbs from when I started. But the time before when I was 197 - a couple / few years prior at 197 I felt thinner than I did this last time.

Why do you think that is?
