WOW Bandmamma - those are GREAT GREAT! Very talented.

Every time I see a class offered - they always want you to buys something. Grrrr.

Sweet_Girl - you WILL be able to make your own wedding cake and that is very special. I always go right to the cake to see it when everyone is waiting for the bride and groom to show up. LOL

I have to upload my pictures, I dont have any links so far.

Okay, this should be the link to the slideshow. I decided to get it done while I was eating dinner tonight. Obviously, you will have to copy and paste this bad boy.

    <div style="width:640px; text-align: center;"><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" src="http://w300.photobucket.com/pbwidget.swf?pbwurl=http://w300.photobucket.com/albums/nn26/BandMamma/Catering and Event Planning/3660134a.pbw" height="480" width="640"><a href="http://i300.photobucket.com/redirect/album?action=slideshow&landing=/slideshows&type=3" target="_blank"><img src="http://pic.photobucket.com/slideshows/btn.gif" style="float:left;border-width: 0;" ></a><a href="http://s300.photobucket.com/albums/nn26/BandMamma/Catering%20and%20Event%20Planning/?action=view&current=3660134a.pbw" target="_blank"><img src="http://pic.photobucket.com/slideshows/btn_viewallimages.gif" style="float:left;border-width: 0;" ></a></div>

If for some reason that doesn't work, try this:

I'm teaching myself. It takes too long for me to learn it in a class. I'm also left-handed which freaks everyone out. They try to give directions for left-handed people but it never works-just like left-handed scissors.
I'll have to post it all to my photobuck account since some people don't have a myspace account. Just let me get through my super busy week and remind me on Monday and I'll do it.
I'm trying to re-hab my daughters room in her rental house and get it done in one week. From slumlord design to Pink Perfection in 3 days. Can she do it? LOL

Band and Sweet_girl I'd really enjoy seeing your other creations ... got a link or another way I can see them?

I SO SO want to do this.

Very interesting. I won't believe it til I taste it, but very interesting. I have some of both so I may try that today. Or not- getting back on track today and don't wanna veer off so soon. Think the kids will taste it for me? Naw, they don't trust store fondant since they first tasted it.

Yup thats the ones. I use the candy ones. In them small tiny bottles. Ya I have stayed away from making anything while on this diet. All though when it gets closer to the holidays I will have to make some. lol. my husbands family all look forward to their own tins, specially my father in law, so Cant let them down, but I am sure I will be okay. Just make hubby be my taste tester sinc I cant test everything this time around. lol

I hate that, when I need a coupon and they dont have one. lol. Drives me NUTS. Ya as long as you add some flovor its not bad at all. At least not fro what i use it for, I have never had any complaints. I have also used the powder kind, where you just add butter to it. That kind is pretty good also with flavor. I get that one at my bulk store.

To get pictures on here. go to www.imageshack.us and host your pic. So you would upload it there, and then its gonna spit out a bunch of codes for you. Then copy the code neat the bottom that says hotlink for forums. And just place this code here and it will post the picture for you.

While your cake is beautiul, although I am not a fan of pink. You did an awesome job. but I wanna see the MONKIE one when you get it done! lol

A tip to, I dont make cakes, but I do make homemade chocolate, and use fondant when i made filled chocolate. When I dont want to make homeade, I have bought the wilton kind. I just add a splash or two of flavoring. And it taste awesome! Just an FYI. lol. They have tons of candy floavoings you can buy, and add to it, Basically any kind of flavor you can think of. And the Jars are very tiny, but it only takes a drip or two , to flavor a HUGE bowl.

Yeah- a Caboodle! Thanks for remembering that for me. Old brain, LOL.

I remembered what else I was going to say. You can freeze the marshmallow fondant and the buttercream that is left. Just wrap it tight. No more jonesing for the leftovers.
Also, a wonderful trick I just learned if you hate to clean bags like me: rip off a piece of plastic wrap and lay it on the counter. Near the middle, but towards the edge (if that makes sense), plop some frosting down. Fold one side of the wrap over the middle (over the frosting), then roll it up. Twist the top of the wrap that doesn't have frosting on it and put the "package" in the bag with the open end towards the tip. Twist the top of the bag and decorate as usual. When it's empty, just pull out the now empty plastic wrap. I thought it was too good to be true and the plastic wrap would try to go through the tip, but it doesn't. Hardly any clean up to do and no more struggling to fill the blasted bag without getting frosting everywhere.

I'm glad Sweet_Girl can cut them straight, though. Mebbe you come over and cut mine? Naw- with my method I don't have to mess with trying to frost over crumbs.
Hobby Lobby has a 40% of coupon in the paper this morning. The ad here is on the back of the comics section. I also never purchased one of those plastic boxes to keep all my tips and such in. I just used an old cosmetic box (I forget the name, they were popular in the 80's, but you could also use a cheapo toolbox from the the hardware store.
FYI-the new Wilton yearbook is out!!!! Yes, I am excited and I'm torn between using the Hobby Lobby coupon for that or for the extra 8" round pan I need. Decisions, decisions! If you buy the yearbook, the buttercream recipe will be in there along with lots of directions on using the tips with buttercream. It will also be on the Wilton site. They have message boards there, too where you can find lots of info.
I was going to say something else, but I forgot. The caffeine is kicking in this morning and my brain and fingers are going too fast right now.
Are you talking about a caboodle? Haha! I remember those!

I wish I had the drive to even try to decorate a cake! It looks like so much fun!! My mom worked at a bakery for a few years and learned some things. All it really did was give her carpel tunnel, lol!

    Default Cutting Cake Tip

I have used dental floss (non-flavored of course) to cut cakes. It makes very clean cuts and is very fast!!

    Hope this helps

Yay!! I finally found someone who can give me tips!!! Ok, so I can look for the fondant and buttercream recipes on the wilton site?
You know what is really great is that walmart is carrying a small selection of wilton products that is definitely cheaper than micheals, so I bought the cake cutter there for like $2.50 and let me tell you it is freakin amazing!! I had first cut my cakes(the one in the picture) with a knife and it was still not even, but when i used the wilton one...OMG it worked AWESOMELY!!! And it was easy to use!!!
My hubby actually helps me ALOT...he does all of the fondant making, he kneads it really good, shoot I dont have the strenght to do it myself!!!
I'm definitely going to have to try your paint roller idea, because I can never get my frosting smooth!!! NEVER!!! It is always lumpy!
Well I am going to copy and paste your ideas to my computer so I wont lose them, I've only made two fondant cakes but I really have a lot of fun with them, and i've already bought all the colors to dye it and cookie cutters and the smoothers....I was actually suppose to make my sister in laws baby shower cake but I had to back out of it because I have soo much homework to do! And she wanted a jungle theme with handmade monkeys...TIME CONSUMING, i am a little disappointed because i did want to show off, but then again i was nervous that since no here where i live has ever even tasted the fondant that they would not like it. But i will be making my sons preschool graduation cake and my parents 25th wedding anniversary cake so I will be getting my practice on!!!!
I'd love to see some of your work!!!
