when my mamaw (yeah, i'm a hick) was in the hospital with IV's and stuff her feet were really swollen . she used to talk about it all the time.....then her legs started getting bruised just where she never got to exercise them and they were weak and would hit up against the bed rails and stuff. i think they were just swollen from the IV's like you said, and lack of movement. not that i'm a nurse..........

Scat it can be caused by diabetes but like you, I think they would know if he had that. Make sure that he has the compression hose on while he is in there. Being in the bed for long periods can cause blood clots. Clots can make the legs and feet swell. Poor circulation is a cause of swelling. Heart and liver issues may also cause the swelling because of fluid retention. The use of diuretics for long periods of time may also cause it. Unfortunately there is a lot of different things that can cause it. The compression hose are still a good idea anyway, he needs those for sure.

    Default Swollen feet

Any nurses here know reasons for swollen feet (not legs, just feet) other than kidney failure?
I did it!! Reached goal and have been here for quite a while thanks to low carb eating and working out like crazy! Phen didn't work for me, but that isn't to say that there aren't other ways. God bless all of you!
