    Here is a site that may help you. Basically at 60% of your max heart rate is where you would burn the most "fat" calories. However at a higher intensity you would be able to burn more calories.

    Is your body used to exercising or is this something new you've started?

    Default Target heart zone too high

    When I select the "fat loss" program when working out on the treadmill or elliptical, it usually says my target heart rate is something like 126. However, my heart rate is way (WAY) over that all the time. When I try to slow down to get the heart rate where it's supposed to be it's like I'm not working out. On the elliptical if you go below a certain speed it pauses because it thinks you've stopped pedalling - that has happened to me a lot of times. It's like to get at the heart zone I have to go extremely slow - so slow that it's impossible. Obviously I'm doing something wrong, right? How do I fix this?
