Thanks Angelchar77, I was wondering because I've been riding my stationary bike everyday for an hour, it does have resistance, the bike I have has "programs" on it, that are like mountain ranges, it is very intense. But I know that my bike is recrumbent unlike the spinning bike....LOL the spinning classes on TV look SOOO SCAREY!!!

Yes sweet. One of the main differences between a spinner and a standard upright is that the spinner is more like a road bike. "Spinning" itself is intended to be a high energy, very intense workout that focuses on high RPM pedalling. Also the spinning wheel is weighted unlike regular bikes. You increase and decrese resistance as you go.

Oh yeah I also forgot that your foot is strapped or clicked in therefore you have push and pull resistance

Is there a difference between a spinning class and riding a stationary bike at home?

It always depends on the instructor. We do excersizes of standing for some and sitting for some other songs. Some you turn up your resistance and work hard. Others you pedal fast and hard. Its a great workout. Even if you are new to it you dont have to stand and sit up and down. You do what you can at your pace.

How "fit" do you have to be to keep up with the spinning? When I went to join the gym there was a spinning clas going on and I was able to look in. I thought it was just pedaling on the bike really fast but the guy told me that what makes it hard is for the majority of the class you have to stand and pedal with very little time sitting. True? I'd like to give it a try but if it's standing up and pedalling the whole time... Whew!

I was hooked for awhile, but then I was sick for like a week and a half. I lost my will to get up at 5:30am and go. I know if I can just get started I'll be hooked again... I just need to make myself do it.

    Default Spinning anyone??

Does anyone else here take spinning classes? My neighbor got me into it a couple of weeks ago. It is so addictive! I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to keep up, but it is so much easier than it looks. I like it a lot better than aerobics/zumba classes because I am not the most coordinated person anymore. I was once before when I was a kid, but apparently when I became a mom, I lost any rhythm I may have once had. ANYWAY, I highly recommend spinning classes to anyone who is looking for a great workout! Does anyone else here spin??
