I have 15 month old twins and a busy three year old at home with me everyday, just dealing with them is a work out itself. I usually work out in the evenings with my husband, it's easier when you take them to the gym with you. The gym daycare is a lifesaver and it make my workout smoother because I don't have to worry about what they are into or them getting in the way. I usually do two miles on the treadmill, two miles on the bike, two miles on the elliptical machine, and finally hit the ab machine, all why they playing in the gym daycare, much easier.

I agree, it is very hard. Mine are 2 and 3 and the only time I can work out is during their naptime, yet that is also the only time I can do certain chores and sometimes I just want to sit down and do nothing. At night I'm too exhausted by the time I get them to bed. I'm trying to workout at least 3-4 days a week but sometimes not that much. Who knows!

Yeah, I have issues finding time to work out right now. However, mine are 22, 19, and 18! I spent all day creating 2 cakes for a 4H fundraiser, then did a quick pick up and vacummed the house. After that, I sat down for a minute to e-mail hubby. Here's how it went (backwards order so start at the bottom LOL):
Deal! See you in a bit!

    Subject: Question

What the heck are we doing?

    First born's house repair
    Middle child's move
    House cleaning
    Bill paperwork
    Make cakes
    Seeing your mom and grandma

All I wanted to do was do to the drive-in's soon and we can't. What the heck are we doing? Most of this kid crap is supposed to be over with and we can't even find time over one weekend to go do something together. I don't even know at this point how we are going to get the above list done. This blows.

We did go to dinner, then came home and he did some of the mowing while I did the bill paperwork. Now I'm working on the laundry.

All these years later, and they still pull us in to do stuff for them. It's not fair. We're going back to putting our foot down and making the bum's take care of their own stuff and helping with the family stuff like cleaning and laundry. The two at home right now go to bed 4 hours before I do and get up 4 hours after I do. Something's not right, huh?

Yes, yes, yes it is HARD!!! I was fine working out with my first two children but once baby number 3 came along, it seemed his entire existence revolved around keeping me from working out. After he established a sleep pattern, I began getting up an
1 1/2 before the time he got up. AS SOON AS I did this, wouldn't you know it, he also started getting up earlier. Now that I have added baby number 4 to the bunch, I have all but given up. I started piling the kids in a stroller last weekend and heading out the door after breakfast, and have only missed a couple of days since then. So far so good. I walk for about an hour, and then let the kids "loose," lol, in the park/playground. I am able to walk at a fast enough pace to really break a sweat. I do lunges will the kids are running around. I guess it is working, since I was able to drop a little over a pound over the weekend, even after pigging out of Father's Day goodies.

When my daughter was born, we bought a treadmill. But I just made up excuses not to work out. SO we ended up getting a membership at the gym because they have child care there. Its only $1 for every time you bring a child! So, that is a pretty good motivator for me....I get an hour or two break for ONE buck! LOL!
I know that our local YMCA offers childcare while you workout as well.

I have an 8yr old, 2yr old and 7 month old at home(during the summer) all day. I still get in 2 miles on my elleptical(sp) and do 500 crunches every day 7 days a week...I do more of both if I have time. I don't do it all at one time, I break it up into 2 sessions(sometimes 4 sessions a day=4 miles/800 crunches). Once the baby lays down for her nap, I get out my machine and walk a mile then do 200 crunches...then do it again when she takes her afternoon nap. The 2yr old girl is good while I'm doing my exercises and usually will watch cartoons while I'm doing my walk.

    Man, can I relate.
What I have started doing is getting up earlier and riding a recumbent bike, it's *almost siltent - unlike our treadmill.
I sit in the darkness and peddle my heart out.

    My boys are 3.
When they were younger - forget it - I was too flippin exhausted - I don't know how moms do it that have kids different ages!

well, i'm not a stay at home mom. i have been though and i used to get on the treadmill the MOMENT naptime began. go ahead and be dressed and ready and then get started immediately. OR.....while they are eating. i don't know how old yours are, but if they eat in a highchair....bring them into the room where you workout while they eat. my son thinks it's hilarious to watch me on the treadmill while he eats. right now i'm working and going to school.....for awhile i wasn't even getting a lunch break so if i didn't exercise while they were eating at night....i would have to wait until they went to bed. now i do get a lunch break and i come home and walk during that time. you can get it done....even if you have to do it at night after they go to bed, you will figure it out! let us know how it works out.

I just think that have a 6th sense. My husband was getting up at 4, so I would try and get up around 5 to get a bike ride in. Either the baby would be up half the night, or wake up right before I'd go. Now for a while my hubbys up at 5 so I can wait til 6 to get up, and lo and behold, both my 3 year old and 14 month get up now! By the end of the day, I am usually so tired or frustrated, I don't even want to go for a walk or a bike ride! My older two can sleep thru anything tho!

I'm a stay at home Mom with my 2 younger kids, aged 18 months and 3 yrs. I try to keep myself busy throughout the day by taking on cleaning projects, mopping, etc to get some sweat going! I also walk with them every night (I have a double stroller). I'm trying to convince my hubby to let me buy a Wii so I can get the Wii Fit game! I hear that's a great workout in itself! =)

Sad to say, I haven't been working out lately. I don't understand it, when Biggest Loser was on I had so much motivation. Then the season ended and I have pretty much stopped working out! But I know what you mean about the kids. I used to have a treadmill when my middle child was a newborn. That thing was kinda noisy when it got going and I always had to stop cause I would think I heard the baby. Then I got a glider and the kids would always want to come by me. I would have to stop cause I didn't want to knock them out with the dang thing. FInally, my last workout toy was a mini trampoline. That worked pretty good. The kids did try and get on it with me sometimes though.

Is it just me or do any of you have problems trying to find time to work out? I swear I try to get on the elliptical when they're sleeping but no more than 10 mins on and they're awake. I just want to know if it's just me.
