Answer

The answer to this question depends a lot on the medication you want to combine with phentermine. Some over-the-counter (OTC) and prescription medications are safe to take alongside phentermine, while others should be avoided since they produce dangerous interactions.

Medications that should NOT be taken while taking phentermine include:

  • MAOIs
  • Amantadine
  • Amphetamines
  • Caffeine pills
  • Chlophendianol
  • Cocaine
  • Medicine for asthma/breathing problems
  • Medicine for cold, sinus problems or allergies
  • Methylphenidate
  • Nabilone
  • Pemoline
  • Antidepressants (unless explicitly instructed to do so by the doctor that prescribed phentermine)
  • Any other diet pills

You should always ask your doctor or pharmacist before combining phentermine with any medication or supplement, whether it is prescription or OTC.
