Hi Stacy!

I don't post much anymore, but your posting the ID took me back...a friend's husband worked for AON...he's gone & she's alone with a 2 year old...there really are no words, you know?

I used to temp in the WTC, maybe 15 years ago, putting myself through nursing school...gosh, those towers were so tall, especially when you're in between them....

WOW! I can't imagine dealing with all the emotions and scared feelings you have experienced. It marked all our lives and most of us live far away. I was more shook by the Pentagon because our summer vacation was in DC and we sat on the lawn at the Pentagon and watched the 4th of July fireworks at the capitol. One of our favorite stops was the National Cathedral. We spent hours there touring. When they had the prayer service there after 9/ll I was so there. I was seeing places I had stood in wonder a few months before. Gald you found us. Hope we can help.

Gosh, don't ever shut up, OK? I used to come to this site more often, as I said, not much anymore, but I was here before 9/11 & I was here on 9/11 & if you ever look at old posts in this Solidarity forum or from the general forum on 9/11/01...this site reacted to the events & showed real concern for those living in/near the WTC & the Pentagon...as well as concern for those who either worked in/near those areas or had relatives working in/near those areas...it helped me alot to know that phen.commers from all over the country were all here, worried about me & others...

I think it's very healthy to talk about it, I talk about it with people that I sense are receptive...I work at a major NYC hospital & I meet many patients who've lost someone...we're lucky because we live/work where so many of us were touched by it, so it's easy to talk about it...

In my town alone, we lost 3 Dads, that's 3 Dads too many, you know? Sometimes I wonder how it happens that so many died & so many lived....

Yes - it's true most people will talk about it...I often feel pretty uncomfortable even bringing it up around here (nyc) though as it is highly likely that they know someone who died...and i still feel guilty sometimes.

My boyfriend and I have a former co-worker (we met at a "regular" job I had several years ago) who lost her 27 year old son - he had knee surgery like 2 weeks before - the boyfriend went to the funeral(i just couldn't). Well, all this time has passed and she called him to invite us to a party she was having & I can't even fathom going. I can never face her. I just can't.

I probably should think about getting into therapy again for this...i did go to one provided by AON for a while but then i got sick of talking about it...maybe I'll just keep venting here for a while.

Today I took care of a patient who works for the Port Authority & was on the 65th floor of Tower 1. She made it out just before Tower 2 came down. She said the smoke & debris was so bad that she couldn't breathe or see. She staggered around until she felt someone pulling her & she couldn't resist...it was a man working in a restaurent who could see into the street and was pulling people in one by one as they passed...

We had a nice chat & she told me her experiences that day, who she lost...the Port Authority lost 84 people. Anyway, I said to her that her family & friends must have been thrilled to finally hear her voice when she called to tell them she'd survived...and she said to me that she never in her life realized how much she was loved...
