May God bless and keep you always,
May your wishes all come true,
May you always do for others
And let others do for you.
May you build a ladder to the stars
    And climb on every rung,
    May you stay forever young.

    Forever young, forever young,
    May you stay forever young.

May you grow up to righteous,
May you grow up to be true,
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you.
    May you always be courageous,
    Stand upright and be strong.
    May you stay forever young.

    Forever young, forever young,
    May you stay forever young.

May your hands always be busy,
May your feet always be swift,
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of change shift.
May your heart always be joyful,
May your song always be sung,
    May you stay forever young.

    Forever young, forever young,
    May you stay forever young.

The months after 9/11 music really got me through the sadness I felt for the loss of lives and the lives of everyone who was changed that day. The line in this Bob Dylan song-"May you stay forever young" made me feel that the lives that were lost, will stay "forever young", somehow that thought makes me feel a little bit better.

    Thanks.

Music is very emotional for me... I remember that I was in the car when I heard the "new" version of Lee Greenwood's song that had been edited with sounds from sept 11th... I cried because I remembered how, during the gulf war, that song brought me so much pride.. I went to rallies supporting our guys in the Gulf... I cried because I knew this would cause more of our guys to go "over there" I think it is the most beautiful, patriotic song in the land right now!

If tomorrow all the things were gone Iíd worked for all my life,
And I had to start again with just my children and my wife.
Iíd thank my lucky stars to be living here today,
ĎCause the flag still stands for freedom and they canít take that away.

And Iím proud to be an American where as least I know Iím free.
And I wonít forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And Iíd gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today.
ĎCause there ainít no doubt I love this land God bless the U.S.A.

From the lakes of Minnesota, to the hills of Tennessee,
across the plains of Texas, from sea to shining sea,
From Detroit down to Houston and New York to LA,
Well, thereís pride in every American heart,
and itís time to stand and say:

Iím proud to be an American where at least I know Iím free.
And I wonít forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And Iíd gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today.
ĎCause there ainít no doubt I love this land God bless the U.S.A.

I'm Proud to be an American by Lee Greenwood!
