Thumbs up
Good morning!

Don't know if this site gets many readers any more, but what the heck, I don't care...

Last night there was a special on VH-1 to benefit Twin Tower families. It was live & there were some misscues & incorrect camera shots, but all in all, I was impressed.

I missed the first hour as we had dinner plans, but saw the rest until the end at 12:45AM, wwwaaaayyy past my bed-time & I never sleep late, so I'm a hurting puppy right now...

I liked all the music, even the groups/musicians that I don't care for. Every song took on a new meaning since Sept. 11. I never liked "The Who" for instance, but listening to Roger Daltrey singing "We don't get fooled again" I was thinking, yeah, we won't get fooled again, we won't get lulled into this false sense of security where we feel safe going to work, opening mail, flying on an airplane, etc.

Other acts (that I can remember) were Billy Joel (getting old), Elton John (getting old), Mick Jagger & Keith Richards (really getting old), Melissa Etheridge (non-working microphone) & at the end, Paul McCartney, who was supposed to marry me but I was underage at the time (8 years old) so he married Linda instead. Paul looked OK, considering, although I think he's got a hair-weave thing going on...the short films were cute, too---I liked the one where the NYers make fun of NJers & the one dude keeps saying, "Rangers, baby, Rangers!"

Everytime the camera panned the audience, someone was holding up a picture or a mass card of a loved one or co-worker that had died in this nightmare. Families & children were right alongside the introducers, & I cried & cried, freaking my hubby out. I just have such a sense of "gee, that could have been, that could have happened to me" & how sad it all is, losing a loved one so early.

I make sure I tell my hubby & 2 boys how much I love them, how proud I am of them, everyday. I know they think I'm nutty (I am), but I don't want anything left unsaid in case I'm next. Might not get a chance to call them from my cell phone.

OK! That was my perspective on the show, a little personalized, but so what! It's my post & I can write whatever I want! I just can't say "Don K i r s c h n e r's Rock Concert." Don't ask...

Hey Fid!
DON KIRCHNER'S rock cocert!! ....I bet you and I are the same age! A good friend of mine lost a fireman buddy at the towers and got 5th row seats for the benefit concert! She said it was really INCREDIBLE. I taped it but did not get in David Bowie...heros''darn! If you want a copy I could send it...I know I know ...mail is not the same anymore.
I thought the songs took on new meanings as well. Paul promised to marry me also ...when he was making his Ram ablum. I liked when the fireman from Rockaway Beach said "OSAMA, YOU CAN KISS MY ROYAL IRISH *** !!!!" Loved it..he should be our next mayor!!!!!!!
You're right people have fallen off this foram...I still would like to share about it...it's not leaving my psyche any time soon, but as you said to me before...enjoy every free moment right now! Take care, glad you mentioned the conert I was going to but thot I'd be writing to myself! Marg

Hi Marg!

This could be our personal forum, the fiddlestix & itsuptou2 forum. Whaddayathink?

Thanks for the tape offer, but I am going to assume that it'll be rebroadcast in some shape or form...yeah, I missed David Bowie & I heard that Billy Crystal was hysterical.

The day after the concert, I went to watch my son's last fall baseball game (they won) & all us parents sat in the stands & critiqued the concert---everyone had a different opinion on who was in good form & who wasn't. My feeling was, hey, it was for a good cause & everyone who performed had done it for free, so who am I to say that Roger Daltrey's voice wasn't as it used to be? At least he was there!

OK, let's compromise on the Paul McCartney thing...we could both have been his wife---let's make him Mormon, OK? He was such a cutie, no? Sigh. I love that accent...

So, how old are you? I turned 39 on September 11th...

Take care---Nina
