My heart breaks for all the innocent people who will not go home to their loved ones tonight. I pray for them, their families and for their loved ones.
Early this morning as I watched this unfold, I was shocked and terrified. My 24 year old daughter was near the World Trade Center for business meetings and I was unable to reach her on either of her two cell phones or beeper. By around 11 AM she was finally able to get through to me as she was in route out of the city. She left her luggage at the hotel and drove north. I know the pain and anguish I felt during those first three hours and just cannot imagine people are still going through that.
We experienced something today on our land that many other countries have become accustomed to. Our sense of safety and security have been rocked to its' core. We were attacked on our own soil!
Even at my age, I am continually amazed at the hate in the world--and for what? A PIECE OF LAND! IT'S ALL SENSELESS!!!!!!!!!!!
Additionally I live 1 hour from NYC and we had a bomb threat at my hospital where I work as a critical care nurse specialist. All of our patients had to be evacuated-even those on ventilators. Oh what a frightening world we live in. All I can do is pray.
