    Question Odd side effects..??

Hi! My name is Jessica and I just joined today! I hope this question is not too odd, but I am not sure where else to look!. I hope to become an active member and share my journey with the aid of Phentermine.

HISTORY: I started Phentermine yesterday. I am taking 30mg in the AM. I was mauled in the face by a dog a couple of years ago (long story) and had to begin taking Neurontin (gabapentin) to treat the nerve damage in my face, as from the loss of my lips and the reconstructive surgeries that followed, the trigeminal nerve in my face was severed. ANYWAY, last year I had lost almost 70 lbs without any aide, just working very, very hard. I kept it off with no problem, and maintained my weight all the way through April of this year. In May, I began Neurontin and since then, I have gained over 55 lbs!! It makes me hungry ALL the time and I seem to have no control...even if it's mildly healthy food, I will eat SO much of it that it ends up making me gain weight rapidly. It also seems to affect my metabolism. Apparently this is a very common side effect and now this weight gain is affection other areas of my health (back problems, ovarian cysts, very bad skin, etc).

SIDE EFFECTS: I had anticipated this incredible energy, need to clean, racing heart etc. that so many people seem to experience and I did not even mind the possibility, as my house could use some cleaning Well, instead, I am completely calm, focused, happy! The frustrating things I usually do, like shaking my leg ALL of the time or having to play video games or browse the net AND talk in order to just watch TV, I was able to just relax, my legs are not shaking, I can just chill and do one thing!

QUESTION: I tried to research this...is it possible that I have ADHD and this is actually in a way treating it, as it's similar to Adderal? I had been previous diagnosed with depression or bipolar 2 and put on lamictal and celexa (I am discontinuing celexa this week actually due to interactions and not much of an effect on my problems), but I have never really felt most of my problems have actually been treated. Is it possible that all along it has been ADHD and that is why I am reacting in such a way?

Ok, well either way, the reaction is actually quite pleasant and I am glad. If anyone else has ADHD or has experienced this reaction, I would love feedback. Thank you to anyone that made it through my novel of a post

    Jessica,
Although I take no other medication I have been having similar side effects. I feel very calm and during the first week I found that I was able to focus more easily. I have alway's joked that I have ADHD due to the fact that I can't relax. I have alway's had a hard time staying still and my lifestyle is constant chaos. I work as a nurse in the ER and excel when there are many thing's going on at once. I seem to function well like this, except for the eating. I have alway's found myself eating just out of habit, not hunger. Since my last child (2yo) the habit has continued but my metabolism has changed...42lbs gained in 2-3years. I started phen almost 1 month ago. I think I have lost about 10lbs, but I go to the doctor today. Although I would have liked to see a greater weight loss, I am happy with the results. I recently cut out caffeine and noticed a big change. I feel good and people are starting to notice the difference. I will ask my doctor today about the ADHD connection, before I thought I was the only one feeling like this. I sleep great too! I imagine that it is a very good possibility b/c phen works by stimulating the CNS but the exact pharmacology is unclear. With your history and the combination of med's I am not shocked that it is having a different effect. Anyway, with or without the side effects I do find it is working, just slowly. Good luck!
