Hello! I've been taking Phentermine for 2 weeks, i'm sticking to a low carb diet (between 20-25 grams per day) and have lost 20 lbs already, which is kind of scary but very encouraging. I also take 40mg of Paxil per day.
One side effect has me worried though, this morning i've developed some hearing problems. I can hear just fine, no decrease in that, but sounds in my left ear have a metallic quality....imagine a wire brush being lightly dragged across some aluminum foil. When people talk, it sounds a bit like a robot, when i run my fingers through my hair it sounds like when you rub an inflated balloon. IT'S SO WEIRD! i know that buzzing in your ears is a sign of elevated blood pressure with Phentermine, but my BP is super low (117/65 sometimes the MD has to try 3 times to get a reading on it) so that can't be it. I took a stress test at my MD's office before starting the Phentermine so i know for sure my heart is ok, i had an electrocardiogram done as well. Also, i only hear the odd rattling when actually hearing something...not just all the time, even when things are quiet.
And of course, i'm having trouble sleeping, this second week i've gotten between 2-3 hours of sleep per night. Could it be that my lack of sleep is making odd symptoms come up? I've had ear infections before and this is definitely not one. A few years ago i was diagnosed with "benign positional vertigo" which totally cleared up and has never reoccurred. So, this buzzing sound is definitely not dizziness, vertigo, infection or high BP.
Does this sound like a Phentermine reaction to anyone? You think it will wear off? I'm coming up empty trying to self diagnose this lol!
