    Default ?????

Last check up my dr. told me to go off the phen for 2 weeks since it was not controlling my appetite as well as it did when I first took it. It still does well with cravings. Has any one else done this? I was wondering if I'll have to go through all the nasty side-effects I had when I first started it...(dry mouth & jittery)......that was pretty nasty but went away in about 10 days. This coming Monday (12/1) will be two weeks and while I'm anxious to get back to it and have managed to maintain my weight for these weeks, I have to admit I'm somewhat nervous about restarting it.
I don't know (& didn't think to ask) why I had to be off two weeks. Phen only takes 5 half lives (2 1/2 days) to get out of your system, so why the 2 weeks?
Any help and/or advice will be greatly appreciated.

Your body builds up a tolerance to phen after a few months, so to boost your weight loss going on a break helps. Most doctors only prescribe phen for 3 months, but others who have patients who need to lose more weight will allow thier patients to stay on longer if breaks are given, because phen can cause health problems like high blood pressure and heart problems as well. I was off of phen for a month and just started back on phen today, it helped with the cravings and energy once again. I got hyper and wanted to clean everything and I had some dry mouth as well. You probably wont have to go through any rough side effects.

    Default thanks

Thanks for the info. I hadn't really thought about building up a resistance to phen, I worried more about becoming addicted to it. I did alot of research plus the CNP who sees me every month is very open and informative about it. She said addiction in most people is an emotional one, because they like how they feel (energy wise). I too went through the "cleaning the whole house" ......and I mean every drawer, closet and cabinet. I bagged and boxed up so much stuff I had to make three trip to Goodwill & Habitat to drop it off (and I have a pickup truck)!!!!
As far as the high blood presure, I am being treated for it and have been for about 10 years. In my research I found that phen is actually indicated for folks who have HBP because losing weight can lower it. If a person develops HPB while taking phen, then it's not a good choice for them. That's why I have to go to the dr. every month.....for a weigh in, BMI check and BP check. I also have my own monitor and have to bring my readings in each time. My BP has been good but I do have "white coat syndrome" so they'll recheck it after a few minutes and give me time to do some deep breathing.
So what you're saying is staying off for extended periods is for the tolerance we build up as opposed to getting it out of our system? That makes more sense to me.
Since you've been off a month and I will be off for two weeks Monday when I start back.......I wonder if you'll let me know (if you don't mind to)....how you're doing with the restart? Did you gain any weight when you went off? How long were you on it the first time? (sorry for alll the ?'s)
Good luck and thanks for your help. Di
