Has anyone experienced that phentermine got them feeling a little depressed. I also find it harder to focus properly on work and stuff. It goes away if I don't take a for a few days.. but comes back as soon as i start taking it again.

anyone else?

I've got that lack of focus thing too. I get distracted more easily and twice this week I've kind of zoned out while sitting at traffic light waiting for them to change and other drivers have blown their horn at me to make me move. I've always had a bit a problem with my short term memory though, Phen has made it a little worse though.

Yes I have noticed this problem too. I will get completly spaced out during the day to where I am just staring off not thinking about anything.

I also feel numb to emotions sometimes, it's a strange feeling. Almost like I'm taking some kinda downer

Hi, I have noticed the "zoning" going on myself. I was depressed prior to starting the phen due to how much weight I have gained, so now I am noticing that leaving. I am looking forward to each day again.

I hope today finds you feeling better.

I feel depressed when I go off phen. It actually increases my mood the first week I am on it ( I usually cycle, 1-2 months on; 1 month off) then after the first week my emotions are pretty stable. But boy when I wean off the med, I get crabby, snappy, irritable, and mildly depressed. My energy also drops to nothin and I am hungry all the time.

Wow...... the coming off phen sounds down right awful. I am an emotional eater so I hope that I somehow luck out and don't have any of the bad side effects. If I get depressed, I want food. I am trying to move away from that.

This might help, upon looking up the two substanses both Phentermine, and Amphetermine here's what I got...

Amphetamines release stores of norepinephrine and dopamine from nerve endings by converting the respective molecular transporters into open channels. Amphetamine also releases stores of serotonin from synaptic vesicles. Like methylphenidate (Ritalin) amphetamines also prevent the monoamine transporters for dopamine and norepinephrine from recycling them (called reuptake inhibition) which leads to increased amounts of dopamine and norepinephrine in synaptic clefts.

These combined effects rapidly increases the concentrations of the respective neurotransmitters in the synaptic cleft, which promotes nerve impulse transmission in neurons that have those receptors.

Phentermine, as many other prescription drugs, works with neurotransmitters in the brain. It is a centrally-acting stimulant chemically related to the amphetamines. It stimulates neuron bundles to release a particular group of neurotransmitters known as catecholamines; these include dopamine, epinephrine (also known as adrenalin), and norepinephrine (noradrenaline). This is the same mechanism of action as other stimulant appetite suppresants such as sibutramine, diethylpropion, and dextroamphetamine.

So my guess is that after all that use of Phentermine, you've had those chemicles dumped into your blood steam, like Amphetamin's Phen works on the nuro transmetors of the brain, with out the Phen in your system, you can go into a state of Anphetamin Psycoses...or depression, because of the lake of dopemine...

hope this helped...
