Hi Guys,

I am new to this website. I have been off and on phentermine for a year and just recently started back taking them. I have noticed that my 20/20 vision is dwindling. Has anyone experienced this and is it temporary?

Hey, I'm new here, sort of... have been reading for a while but haven't ever felt the need to post. I saw your post about blurred vision, and I was surprised because I have also noticed problems with my vision such as blurriness, trouble focusing.. almost like I have to concentrate to focus, and at night it feels like I don't have any depth perception. I have an optometrist appointment tomorrow to check it out, but I've just been very concerned because a few years ago my vision was 20/15 (better than 20/20) and now I'm really having trouble, and I'm only 20.

If it's a permanent side effect of the phentermine, I'll definitely stop taking it. So does anyone have an answer on if it is the cause, and if so, will it get better? I've been taking phen for almost 2 months.

I have the vision issues and I am only 24. I noticed it when I was stocking at work and I looked down the isle and I could not see who was calling me- just a blurr- However, it does not do it alot just every now and then- If it were permanate it would not come and go

Yup, vision problems, too. I don't think it is permanent, I believe that for me it comes and goes. I think it may have a little to do with dehydration - but then again, I wear contacts, and when my eyes get too dry, my vision is blurry. Don't know if non-lens wearers have that problem.

Wow...when I was on it last year, that was one of the first things I noticed...the blurred vision...I absolutely had to "focus" just to see my computer screen, but that DID go away eventually..

LOL.. I was just sitting here looking at my email.. and thought.. wth. Why is this screen blurry to me. And As I took a look around the room.. Everything I tried to read was a lil blurry.

I went to look at side effects and lol it put me right back here. Surley I didnt think anyone would of posted anything recent. But I was wrong. I have been on phen for 3 1/2 weeks. I noticed 2 weeks ago that my vision was blurry but never connected it to phen.

I had my hubby change my screen so the words are bigger. LOL.. And still did not connect it with phen. Untill today. And the words were all fuzzy.
Last time I was on the computer was 2 hrs ago.
I am starting to get worried. I dont have headachs. But to look at this white background
on this screen. Makes me squint. As if its to bright. Is that a problem for anyone else?

Yup, me too. I have some low strength reading glasses for when I have to read copies of academic journals with their poor quality tiny print, but now I have to use them for reading regular books. Glad to read that its temporary.

I've been on Phen on and off now for over a year. I have had the blurry vision. I attributed it to dehydration. When I drink plenty of water, I feel fine, but when I don't drink enough, my eyes get dry and blurry. Also, regarding the headache, I only got them the first week I start taking phentermine. I think it's because I was used to eating so much food all day, and then went down to forcing myself to eat. The drastic change in food intake caused my headache, I think. So make yourself eat, even if it's small meals every few hours, and definitely drink LOTS of water... I hope this helps.

Has anyone noticed your eyes hurt and headaches when in bright lights? My headaches get stronger in the bright light - like outdoors during the day. I bought some sunglasses that fit over my glasses and that really helped. But I can't wear those inside while I am at work with fluorescent lights and computer screen. I'm still in my first week on Phen though so hopefully it goes away ! I will try to drink more water and see if it helps. I'm sure the dehydrated thing is true for me. I hate to drink water, but the dry mouth on phen helps me drink more. Just still nowhere near the 64 oz a day or whatever they recommend.

My left eye is very cloudy all day. The right one fades in and out. My throat's incredibly dry too...this is all symptomatic of an "anticholinergic" response to the medication...similar to how you feel after a lot of benadryl.

If it's permanent, i don't care that much...it's not a big deal. The cloudiness makes everybody look a bit better actually

Does anyone know if the blurred vision goes away when you stop taking phen. I just got glasses because of the new vision issue!!

Phen makes your blood pressure go up, causes increased and sped up blood circulation. This causes increased blood flow to your head, thus the headaches and weird vision…mine isn't blurry so much as it's occasionally jumpy and hard to focus. For me this goes away after abt 2wks of being off the phen and getting my BP back to normal. I've noticed my ears ring too, this also goes away after my BP is more regular.
