wow, yesterday was a bad day for me. i have been on phentermine for a month now, everything is going great no wierd side effects. but sat night, i started haveing sharp short pains in my chest, near center on the Right side. they came and went, not too painful, but sharp. they continued on sunday but not as frequent. I did NOT take phen yesterday. WELLL<<< last night when going to bed, i was jsut about to sleep adn then i FREAKED OUT. i felt like i was going to die, and had a FULL BLOWN panic attach which lasted for about 45 minutes, i really wanted to go to the hopsital cuz i thought i was going to DIE! two years ago, when pregnant i had one so my husband was able to calm me down because remebered the one i had before. but now hes like NO MORE PHEN!~ could this have been due to the phen,, my chest pain i was having, or all a matter of conicidence, i really dont know what to do, i love taking it cuz its helping em lose weight , my sis, who works at a hopsital, says people are admitted often from taking phen and having irregular heartbeats, palpations and such and things it s dangerous, but shes always the one to OVERREACT about everything, advice plz!

Hi, I am new to this as well but I think you may be suffering from panick attacks which is probably very common with this drug. I'm not a Dr. but this is a stimulant. If someone is predisposed to panic attacks, such as myself, this drug may induce panick. Ask your Dr.
DEFINITELY ask your DR. so that you can be relieved as well.

I think some people just react differently to it, i havnt had that, one time i felt like i was getting dizzy and gonna pass out at work but it passed, so i dont know if that was phen or not, cuz i never had it again. But maybe see if it happens again, i think its weird you had it a month later, thats when all the crazy side effects wear off ya know!!! well good luck and be safe and healthy

i have horrible panic attacks
so i feel for you!
i get sharp quick pains in the center and right side of my chest too. ill also get some shooting pains in my legs or arms every now and then...part of me thinks it could just be me panicking as usual..or the pills. i dont know which:/

if either one of u figure it out please let me know I have been off phen for 4 months, I have these "attacks" at least once a month bad where I have to go to the Erroom and I have pains every 2 or 3 days. All my heart tests say I'm good but I think It is a long term effect for being on the meds this long.

i would contact your doc right away and get a EEG or EKG whichever one it is done right away! Take care of yourself!

Yea i would agree i would just go talk to ur docter.....panic attacks are horrible and will make u feel like ur gonna die sometimes....maybe u could have ur docter put u on something for the attacks as well...alot of people are on an antidepressent along with the phen......just take care of urself and be safe...ur life is more important then losing weight....keep us updated!!!!!

Yeah I am really glad I found this thread. I took ephedra pills for about a year straight and all of a sudden, one day I thought my heart was beating too fast and FREAKED OUT and thought I was going to die as well. It was my first ever panic attack. I seem to be super paranoid that my heart is going to just stop. I will even scare myself now if I drink too much coffee sometimes. I just got phentermine and I am on day 3 and had a panic attack today. For some reason, whenever I swallow the pill I get REALLY scared and I can't shake that feeling and I have to calm myself down and keep telling myself over and over how many people take it everyday. I REALLY need to lose weight though. I also need the stimulant effect since I am a medical student (not a doctor yet but will be soon) and I need to study ALL THE TIME. Unfortunately, I am too soon in my education to know much about this drug or its mechanism, or the dangers. There just haven't been studies done. Is this panic thing just something we are doing to ourselves??

You no i have heard of alot of people having panic attacks and i think most of it is just for the fact that we all know diet pills arent really good for us but yet we are so desperate that we are willing to try anything that will help....and with this being said i think we tend to worry about it alot and panic.....so yea some of it could be from us worryng about it so much....another thing is that phen does speed up your heart and everything else in ur body and then we begin to breathe faster and panic.... u may want to talk with ur docter about gettting on a antidepressent pill as alot of the other phen users here take them as well and i here it does help with the panic attacks........good luck to u and good luck to becomming a docter.....

Phentermine has the possible side effect of panic attacks, I have them every once in a while when I am stressed out. Some phensters take medication for their panic attacks while on phen.

I had an episode last week on my 6th day of phentermine. It scared me bad enough that I didn't take any at all for two days, then decided to only take half a pill every morning and skip the second dose later in the day. I'm worried I won't lose weight this way, but I'm scared of having another attack.

I have to say you might want to run that by your doctor. Due to the fact that Phentermine does have a chemical in it that reacts to your heart (especially if mixed with other heart medications). Just be careful.

I just have to respond to this one. So I started taking phen in November and had an 18 pound weight loss...some due to stress. I was stoked. I needed to refill but was going to wait out the holidays and start my pills after. So I was going on the second week without and I was surfing the web when I felt my heart rate spike all of a sudden, I wasn't doing any active thing other than moving the mouse. I tried to calm myself down by doing some deep breathing and then felt like I was going to pass out. I went upstairs to tell my husband and he made me sit and chill but my heart was racing incredibly fast and I was having chest pains. I walked over to the neighbors which is an EMT, by this time I am crying because I knew something wasn't right, and he checked my pulse and couldn't get a reading. He called his ambulance and they brought in their equipment and checked my heart rate and it was at 278 beats per minute!! the normal for an adult is 80-100 bmp. I was almost 3 times the normal. They had to give me a medication that reset my heart, actually stopped it for a few seconds. I was at the ER and they did an EKG and thankfully things are ok. They think that phen had a lot to do with this episode. Mind you, I have NEVER had any bad health or heart problems. I am 24 and in good health besides being heavier than I would like. Please also note, I had been off of phen but the doc said it stays in your system. Please be careful on this and if you are having a racing heart and chest pains please, take it serious.
