Unhappy Panic Attack

Just a question...has anyone else had panic attacks while on Phen? I just had my first one this morning, and it almost feels like another one is coming on. It's so scary, I have history of mental illness in my family (and me) but I've been doing great for over a year. I've got no stress, nothing, and then this morning I had one. Depending on what my dr thinks, I'm heavily leaning toward stopping my usage of Phen

I've personally never experienced those attacks, but I've seen people have them, scary.

I would RUN to my doctors office and follow his advice. I hope others can shed more light on this for you.

I've been getting them a lot since being on this pill. I've been told that the pill does cause heart palpitations. I have also considered stopping the pill as well, but I have been told that it does go away. What dosage do you take? I take the 37.5, so I have been taking only half, but I still feel my heart racing. So, I'm hoping that my body will adjust. How long have you been taklng the pill? I started 2/26/08, so I'll give it today and tomorrow and see how I feel. When I called my DR about the symptoms he said it was normal, so maybe yours will say the same thing.

I actually was taking the same dose and started the day after you! My dr called this afternoon and told me to cut the pill in half and see how that goes. Also for some really strange reason, CVS apparently put on the meds that I needed to take one pill at 3 pm. I thought it was a little odd since everything else I saw said to take it at breakfast, but I thought it came from the dr. When I asked the dr about it he said "What? No, take it at breakfast. I don't know why they would put 3." Lovely, that's probably a good reason I couldn't sleep! So I skipped today and I'm going to start taking the half pill tomorrow morning. I really hope it's better!

It is odd; but I have had panick attacks for the last couple of years. I was widowed at 35 and my doctor thinks it has something to do with that. Anyway, I was put on 37.5 mg. of effexor and I have not had one since. If I even think about forgetting my pill however, I start to feel anxious and believe me I never want to have another full blown attack. I feel like I can not even swallow when I am having one. It is a terrible feeling of impending doom or worse and a feeling like you need help, but you can not figure out what help you need. Since starting the Phentermine I have not had any feeling like that. But... I did wonder if I would. I am confident your doctor can help you out. Ask him for something like a xanax to carry with you just in case it ever happens again. At least you will have something that can help you feel in control. Also, on a side note, a benadryl is also an anit-anxiety medication. Good luck and just remember to put some things in place like meds etc or people that you can call and say, "help me get home by talking to me, etc. I told my husband and my best friend so that if it happened and it did a few times, I could call them and I had at least some comfort in knowing they would not judge me or come get me if I needed them to.

One more thing, don't let your doc say something, like let's stop taking the phentermine. It may be the drug, but it might just be that it happened and would have happened anyway. I hope one, it does not happen to you again, second, I hope the phentermine is something you will be able to take.

The Dr. was concerned about giving me phend because I am bipolar. My BP meds had caused a 25-30 pound gain from Aug. to Nov. He said phend can cause anxiety and can cause me to go manic. If I swing manic naturally, I could go way manic. He asked if "I'd climb a flag pole naked and stay for 5 days"? I laughed and said probably not but you never know when I might decide to jump down to Mexico for a quick break and down a few too many and rack up a good hard to pay off credit card. So far....I hate to admit this... ( just shy of two weeks)....I've cried a lot, fought with my husbnd really bad twice, threatend him with a butcher knife once, almost quit my job twice....I'd say i can definately see some issues. I see my physch. this week, Luckily being bipolar my husband is extra patient and understanding..................

There are some good resources out there. One I came across recently was on a lot of topics related to better living with hypnosis. You can sure give it a try. Here is the link http://www.betterlivingwithhypnosis....sis_promo.html. I also noticed that they are offering a free mp3.

Depression is one of those disorders which most people face in there life as some stage for one reason or the other. If it's children the pressure of studies gets over their head and if it's adults the pressure of work attracts depression. Rather than going on drugs, one should look for the reason behind there problem . Keeping your self busy and changing the schedule also helps sometimes to get over stress and depression.
The best way to get over stress, depression and anxiety is to take a break from your regular schedule, go out, and take good sleep. This helps in clearing the mind and try consulting a specialist who can suggest you as how you can get over your problem. There are various prescription drugs to get over anxiety and depression, but these should only be used in accordance with the instruction of a physician and going on anti depressants should be the last option.

I have a history of panic attacks...BAD ONES! I've been on a dose of 75mg of Zoloft for a while now and since I've been on Phen, I haven't had one (knock on wood)...Maybe you should contact your doc about getting on an anti-depressant like Zoloft and see if that helps...YOU CAN TAKE IT WHILE ON PHEN...

Good luck

Default panic attacks

I have gotten bad anxiety on it at first. I was only on 15mg! I had to have a special pharm make me up 7.5 mg capsules and that helped a bunch. It is hard not to be able to take it like most people! See if this may be a choice for you if you want to stay on. Good luck!

I went to bed and cried myself a sleep, I kept telling my hubby I won't b alive in morning cause that's how bad I felt! But I am still alive lol was just s horrible panic attack! I started my period the next day , for some reason I think it's a hormone issue with mine! I hate to see anyone go thro these terrible attacks!!! Taz

Post Phen & Panic Attacks

3 years ago, when I first starting taking the 37mg of Phen, I had a my very first panic attack. I could not explain it but it was the scariest feeling. I felt dizzy and then I had a hard time breathing. At the time, I had been taking phen religiously for 3months straight but after that I took a break from it. An old coworker who also took phen said she had a panic attack from it as well. I definitely think it's a side effect so maybe you should cut back for awhile. I know this time, Im gonna take breaks in between so that it doesn't happen again. Hope this helps

Never overdue it guys (er, ladies). But if you need to skip a day, do so. If it persists, don't be afraid to stop all together. We won't think any less of you. You can always get back on them later! :-)
