    Cool

I've been reading through the posts and it seems that only females are on this board. Oh well, I am not embarassed that I am taking phentermine to loose weight. RE the side effects, here is my male point of view. I have been on phentermine & xenical for four weeks. I only take xenical when my meal consists of more than 10 fat grams. I have lost 15 lbs. However, after the first week or so of taking phen, I do not find that is suppresses my appetite, at all. I am taking 37.5 mill. per day/not time-released. It does however give me energy. It's like I always have to be doing something.....physical. I've been jogging, walking, working in the yard, etc. I really feel the need to start lifting weights - I used to be pretty buff- before I got married.

My side effects have been - no hair loss (thank God), very very very sexual (agitating my wife), sleeplessness, anger management(I get really pissed over little things), sweat like a pig in a tanning booth (not attractive),and sometimes I feel like I'm crazy or unable to control my urges (especially sex). It's not even so much that I want sexual stimulation as much as I want to get physical contact.....kick boxing would satisfy me also....(see what I mean about being crazy).

Any other guys out there and do you have similar problems? Oh yeah, females welcome to respond also, but from looks of things it affects ya'll the opposite way (excuse the southern slag).

    Hey there Aymn...

I'm a fellow male (it does seem we're scarce around here, but no complaints ; ) ), who just started Phen last week... I've noticed a lot of the same things you mentioned.
    - I've had a load of energy. I've been walking to and from work and jonesin' for more exercise.
    - Increased sex drive (my girlfriend doesn't mind), this is much welcomed, since I was worried about a decrease.
    - I wouldn't call it crazyness, but I have had problems concentrating at work... Over the weekend I was fine, but I was moving around and not staring at a computer screen all day...
    - No hair loss yet, I don't have much to lose, so I hope we don't see this one...

Unlike you though, I've been sleeping fine, and have noticed that I grind my teeth occasionally (I'm hoping this will pass)...

I'm in the DC area now, but I'm from New Orleans, so don't worry none 'bout the slag cher... ; )

Glad to see another testosterone brain around...especially one from Louisiana! It's raining like the great flood here today, which means I can't work, which ****s.....
RE sex drive, yeah if my wife were still my girlfriend she'd be happy too, but for some reason after they get the ring it goes from three times a day to three times a week to three times a month to three times a quarter....well, you get what I'm saying,LOL.
    Too bad for me.
The anger thing generally occurs at night,I didn't have problems until about my third week. I think it may be in part because I'm hungry and don't really know it...???? For example, my wife told me good night the other night when she was going to put our daughter to bed; she always says "good night daddy" (we have a 22 mo old and a 6 mo old). Anyways, she said "good night Aaron"....and it really pissed me off, for no reason....I was just extremely mad that she called me Aaron...how stupid. This is totally out of my normal temperment....I am a very laid back guy.
RE hair loss, I have plenty, but want to keep it that way.
Concentration is a problem. Crazyness may be overexaggerated, or maybe not, since I stay with both children five nights a week while my wife is at work.
Just wondering how much weight are you trying to loose. I'm 5'11" and started at 239 lbs.,after 4 weeks of a low-fat diet, excercise, etc. I weigh 224. I want to get down to about 190 lbs. which I weighed when I started dating my wife about 71/2 yrs ago. I realize that I will have to change my lifestyle to keep the weight off once I run out of the phen....but I really needed the help to get started. I feel very good now and have gone down a pant size, which is very exciting.... Laissez les bon temps roulez!......

Hey you guys - us girls like to have sex too - just ask my hubby I understand your anger feeling . I am definitly different on phen than i normally am. The 1st 2 wks was really bad . I couldn't stand the way it made me feel but i'm losing like crazy so i have to stay on it . I have to realize when i'm feeling those feelings it's the pills not me.

Good luck to both of you !

I misunderstood the anger thing, I thought it was helping you manage your anger... I'm generally a laid back guy myself, and have become a little on edge. More so than that though, I've been kinda bummed for no apparent reason... I've been sayin' to myself the same thing that Suthrngirl says "it's not me, it's the pills"... So, if you see yourself gettin' angery at something, step back for a second, and realize that it's not your fault, and that you don't have to be upset about it.
I don't think you need to be concerned about the hair loss, from what I understand from other users messages, it's temporary... In the mean time, maybe you can increase the size of your hat collection... ; )
I'm 5'11" too, and when I started phen last week, I was 212... I've got a nice little gut and some crazy love handles, not to mention some chub on my face... My goal is 180, my weight when I graduated college... My Doctor said 190 was resonable, but if I've gotta have a goal, and I'm putting myself through this torment, then I want to try and make it really worth it... ; )
Are you under doctor supervision? How did you decide how to change your diet? The doc I'm seein' put me on a low carb diet (under 100grams). The worst thing about the diet is no beer... So I'm learning a lot about white wine (they guys won't stop raggin' on me about it)... It's nice though, 'cause I can still eat meat and chicken, and I actually found a place out here that sells boiled crawfish... I'm payin' $5.99/lb, plus one arm and one leg... What's the goin' rate down in the swamp?

I have been on 30mg/day for 10 days and my reactions are quite different. Light-headedness and fuzzy, thick lower lip feelings. Trouble sleeping as I never get tired (I will try the Benadryl!). Sexual drive, but non-performance ... sigh! Never hungry so i'm having trouble getting in 1,500 calories a day rather than 2,500. Results are excellent since I've dropped 19 pounds in 10 days! I am 60 lbs over-weight so 41 to go! - Six

    Hi Six!

I just read your post about using Beny's to help you sleep. That is a bad combo, and could be potentially dangerous. PLEASE check with your doc first.

I'm a female, and am not usually on this board. However, there are a few other guys on the other board. Why not ban together men, and join us ladies. We could certainly use the mix...and the support!

Well...I hope to see you on the other boards. Ta-ta for now!

I just started taking this stuff, (phentermine) and I am getting about 2-3 hours sleep. During the day everything is fine, but at night I can feel a buzz under my skin. If I could sleep, this wouldnt matter, but my mind is racing, nothing moody, but I cant turn it off. Is this typical??

    Hi Guys-
Initially I couldn't find any guys and was wondering if I were the only guy in the world prescribed Phen.

I wrote under the Topic "New to Phen with lots of anxiety. Without rehashing my concerns, could you folks jump to that topic and help me out ? Thanks.

    Angry

Hey guys!......I typed this huge reply last week and thought it posted, but I haven't had any response so I visited today and low and behold....it wasn't there...anyways...crawfish is going for about $2.00/lb boiled...the season is almost over though!
RE Phen.....I have been on it six weeks and am at a stand still on the weight loss. I started out at 246 (with my clothes on at Dr.'s office) and weighed in two weeks ago at 226(again clothed. Well here at home two weeks later I am only at 222, not much for two weeks, considering I've upped my walking from two mile to walking 1/2 mile and jogging 1 1/2 mile....I am eating between 20 and 40 grams of fat a day...most of the time around 20.....I sure hope the weight comes off all at one time....I'm getting agitated. I guess I just lost so much at the beginning, I'm impatient.
My anxiety "attacks" are almost completely gone. I don't get very angry like I did at the beginning. It still gives me energy but does very little controlling my appetite....I feel like I can do that on my own. I am not sleeping very well. I go to bed around midnight and am up around 2, then back to bed around 3 then up at 6......very tired during the day.

    No hair loss....yet, LOL!

Oh the buzz thing...yeah i had that at first too.....I felt like i needed to get physical...I wanted sex real bad...well, that has gone away, actually i've noticed a decline in my sex drive....could possibly be because I haven't eaten very much red meat...who knows?

Best of luck to you guys...keep me posted on the poundage loss.....man I hope mine starts coming back off!

Well, another guy here. Great to be here with all of you, especially since starting a drug like this can be a bit scary, what with the phen-fen associations, etc.

Anyway, I have about 35-40 pounds to lose (man, would that be great!) and I just started phen (Ionamin brand) this past Thursday. Lost a few already, and it's just amazing how such a small amount of food will leave me feeling satisfied. I've always been a sort of "health food freak", so I'm trying to keep the quality of what I DO eat as high as possible, but of course I will definitely be eating junk somewhere along the line.

I think that with so much less food, my sex drive has dropped a bit, but that's fine with me, since a leaner body will help in many such ways anyway... :-p

I also agree that red meat really jacks up your sex drive -- for me, it really gets the juices flowing (literally) and I have to think that that's gotta be not-so-great for your prostate.

Anyway, glad to be here, and I'll try to keep posting.

    Take care.
    -Harris

    Hey Harris and fellow fellows......
welcome to the board! Well, yesterday i didn't take my pill on purpose...i wanted to see if i could control my appetite...and I did pretty well...I ate more but nothing unhealthy. So i took my pill today and wow, i wasn't hungry all day! Almost like when i very first started....considering doing one day one/one day off with my next prescription.

Red meat....definitely increases the sex drive.....but i gotta ask why do you think it's bad on the prostate....???? wouldn't more activity help it...just a thought. Well gotta go......

    Hey,
Been on phen now for just over a week. I have not weighed in to see if any results show yet. Side effects that I have noticed though include dry mouth (complicated by blood pressure medicine), better focus (buzz), sleeplessness, and loss of sex drive. Seems that the urge is there but otherwise is not. Will try the red meat and see if that helps. Thank goodness no hair loss.

Heys, I'm a gal, but I have had rage issues. I'm not talking about just plain 'ole being a cranky girl either...I throw things, want to break things, go into a rage all that good stuff. So I started taking a supplement called
5-HTP, after reading some post about it on here and then doing some research on it. You can find it at stores like walgreens and cvs in the vitamin section. Do some research on and see if you think it would work for you- it's really mellowed me out

OK, i've been reading this board since I stsrted taking Phen last year, but never registred because I didn't see any other men around much either! I've dropped about 50 pounds since September.
I haven't noticed a big problem with sleeplessness, but I'm on medication for insomnia so it knocks me out no matter what. I've had issues with getting really aggrivated since being on Phen. I've also had the hyperactive libido, with no one to...umm...relieve that with, which spun me into a huge depression for the last several months. But, on the bright side I physically feel better that I have in several years But I'd say that depression is the worst side effect I've had.
