    Hi Pauline:

How much total do you want to lose? Usually, the closer you are to your goal weight (within 40 pounds or so) the slower the weight comes off.

I mean, look at it this way, you've lost a pound a week. People 'round these parts will probably tell you that a pound or two a week is good, and that it will come back slower, or not at all, if you lose it slower.

    Thanks for replying Melissa.
Actually, I,m not even near my goal. I currently weigh 190-192. My goal is 160. When I first started the Phen. I felt great. More energy and less appetite. About 4 days later, I noticed that I was feeling hungry again, more often. Now, I think it would be honest to say that they don't curb my appetite at all. I'm wondering if I should increase my dosage. My doctor says after this month we'll talk about it. Well I already feel what I feel so why wait? Any suggestions anyone?

i don't think any doctor who is prescribing this drug is gonna say "Yeah, you are rightphen is causing numbness and chest pains and may be some day they will determine that it will KILL you". I will open him up for the whole law suite thing. I know my doctor has had about 4 law suites against him for prescribing phen-fen. He does not prescribe phen to everyone anymore because of it. I however got lucky because I told him I was severly depressed over just recently losing my baby and have also gained a lot of weight. I did not even want to get a shower I was so depressed becuase i blamed myself for losng the baby. And now I have nothing and I am FATTTTTTT!!!

So he wrote me a script. I really think that is why we are all having such a hard time finding phen in thedrug store. Everyone is scared to have anything to do with it becuase of the whole phen-fen thing. After all phen is the other half of fen.

I think they are going to take it off the market. THAT's ****S.

    GOOD LUCK GUYS,
    DEB

Wow! I had no idea that so many Phen users were experiencing tingling and numbness too! I have had tingling (no numbness) in my left foot and leg for over a year. I also have developed a neck tremor. The neck tremor is compliments of my grandfather and great aunt, but I do think that it came on sooner (started when I was 27) due to Phen. I had a ton of nerve conduction tests, and 4 mri's in the last 3 years because of the tingling, in fact I go tommorow for a MRI of the spine. Makes you wonder though, why are all of us having these same symptoms? Kinda scary!

When you say neck tremor, do you mean a feeling like somebody taped or is tapping you in the neck. On the side or just above the shoulder? I had that weird muscle feeling when I first when on phen.. like someone was taping me hard in the sholder, just below my neck. A psychic told me it was a spirt telling me to pay attention. Talk about paranoid. Then I read the side effects of phen and saw, neck and sholder tremors. OH.. okay.. later spirt world.

Newhere, but not new to phentermine.
    -- VITAMIN B-12 injections --
I have also experienced these same side effects while using Phentermine HCL 30mg/Phendimetrizine tablet 30mg. combonation. The only time I didn't have those problems was when I kept my Dr. appointments to get a vitamin B-12 injection twice a week. After those injections I felt happy. No muscle twitches or nervous ticks, or short-term memory loss, or irritability, or loss of concentration, or numbness of the limbs,no more cold hands or feet. No more tingling or burning sensation of the limbs specially the finger tips. If your not eating your not ingesting any nutrients which leads to vitamin deficiency. If your not going to eat for a couple days or so at least give your body some daily mega doses of vitamin-C and vitamin-B Complex. From those two your body can now make the rest of the vitamins for itself.
Doctors know how important this vitamin is to the whole body in this situation. Just start taking them. You sould TELL your Dr. to start giving you vit B-12 injections at least one a week even if you are eating real food every day you still need this injection.

I use to work for a couple of Doctors who also had weight loss clinics. I witnessed more than enough people come to our clinic from another with nervous system disorders that the previous Dr conviently overlooked, could not diagnois, or pretended to treat it. All the while making more money off of these people by prolonging the proper treatment.
Sorry y'all I got carried away with this.
I'll come back to this later.
    I have an appointment.
Truthfully speaking all of those symptoms are a result of vitamin B deficiency except the corpal tunnel and the dry mouth.
I got to go now. Research those vitamins.
Vit B-12 injection is much more readily absorbed in our body than those dry hard pills. But some is better than none so take something.Soon.

Red face Side effects/long term effects

Hello..I have just thought about beginning this program, and am looking up information. I came across this site

I did want to mention, the numbness and tingling....this is a common side effect of long term "drug addiction" having to do with the livers intolerance. This could be what is occuring. This requires immediate physician attention. People I have known have experienced those side effects. One of which has just currently been diagnosed with Hep C.

I purchased what I thought to be the phentermine...til recieving this home. I noticed upon looking at the bottle it is spelled Phentremine, not Phentermine. Could someone inform me what the differences are? I noticed the ingredients do not contain Phentermine. It has caffeine in it. Can anyone refer me to a site which I could begin the correct item, with a trial.

    Thanks

You can't purchase REAL Phen on the internet anymore. (I don't know if you noticed, but this thread was started back in 2000 and a lot has changed since then.) If you attempt to buy it on the internet you'll just pay a bunch of money and wind up with fake drugs. You have to have a 'script from a doctor to get it. Your best bet is to find a weightloss clinic, or any doctor specializing in weightloss. They tend to let you stay on it longer than family physicians. I'm sorry you wound up with the fake stuff, though. Good luck!!

Things are gettin way deep but my curiosity has been peaked... First let me say that I haven't started phen yet. Mainly because I can't find a dr that takes my insurance that will put me on it... (hoping to change that soon) I have done what I thought was quite a bit of research on the drug but have only seen stuff saying use it for a month or two and then you have to get off of it and yet here you guys are all having been on it for YEARS??? What happens to you guys when you stop taking it? I know, totally off the subject of numbness but I'm fat, I cross my legs and my feet fall asleep. Just how it is... So anyway, I don't want to be on something forever, I just need help knocking down the brick wall that is stopping me from dropping the pounds..
Get thin and God Bless! Gina

I swear I'm trapped in that body somewhere!

    07/01 - 225 (first day on phen)
    07/05 - 219 (yeah!)
    07/14 - 215.5 (so close to 10 I can taste it!!)

this thread was started 8 years ago, I doubt any reputable doctor will let someone stay on it for that many years now a days.

Is anybody still on here anymore?

I start phen probably this Thursday and I remember when I first took it about 2 years ago.... I remember having headaches in the beginning, dry mouth, being very cold, constipation, sleeplessness and numbness and tingling in my hands. After about 2 weeks, things started to tapper off.....I was on phen for 3 months and I think I lost about 35 pouds on it. I looked and felt amazing. I stopped because we were trying to get pregnant and then we got preggo and now after my 3rd child ( 6 months ago) I'm excited to take phen again.

I too had the numbness and tingling, and was only on it for 3 months. I thought you weren't suppose to take phen for long periods of time. I've never heard anybody on it for longer than 6 months at a time, until I came to this site.

Anyway, I just wanted to post that I was having the same things happen and was only on it for 3 months.

    Good luck to everybody.

I'll go ahead and post my question. I've been taking phentermine 30 mg for approx 3 yrs. At first I lost over 40 pounds and now this is a maintenance drug (I've hit a long plateau). If I'm off of it for a few days, I gain weight. I don't excersize and I eat when and what I want usually only one meal a day at dinnertime.
I've had a numbness/tingling/aching feeling in my left leg. It's sporatic...usually starts to throb when I'm sitting for a long time. I'm in my mid-twenties and have had no illnesses, I'm healthy with a busy work and social life. I've asked my doctor (who does not specialize in weightloss) about this. He says I'm too young to worry about a heartache and doesn't really have an answer other than a pinched nerve about my leg. I too have experienced cold hands, cold feet but I've kinda always had that. I'm running out of places to go for answers. If anyone has experienced the same problems please please please post a reply.
    Thank you for your time
    phenarella
The reason why you are not loosing any weight now is because your eating what you want and when you want and not exercising. You need to exercise to keep the fat off just like all diets some people who come off the tablets are going to start putting on weight to prevent this from happening you need to maintain the healthy diet all the time and excercise. In your instance you've said you have a busy work, try going out for a walk at night when you get in or if you can cycle to work.

My brother in law is a personal trainer and constantly on at me about not going to the gym.

    Hope this helps.

    Red face Phentermine

I have taken phentermine for almost 2 weeks. I too have noticed the tingling/numbness/coldness feeling. I was worried so I went to the Dr. and he suggested I have a Neurological Exam to see if it is the nerves. This pill DOES work. I've lost 12lbs in a week in a half but these "SIDE EFFECTS" are too serious for me to continue on this pill.
