My husband and I have been taking phentermine off and on for 2 years, At the most he lost 200 pounds and I had lost 60 pounds. We each have gained back about 15-20 pounds and are thinking of takining it again. I like the good feeling I get and the sense of control in my life when taking the drug. My husband would like to be able to take it for life just to make sure he never goes back to what he was. When we go off of the drug it seems all of those bad habits slowly come back and the lack of the sense of control leaves. Have there been andy studies of long term use of the drug? When you loose weight like this you can see other peoples eyes checking you out to see if you have gained it back, to see if you have failed and this is the one part of my life I would like to not fail in.
Also the doctor we were getting it from said there is a shortage of one of the ingredients and can't get it right now. Is anyone else having trouble getting it?

Thank-you
Nancy

Hi Nancy and Karen,

I just wanted to leave my experience for you. I've been taking phertermine since March 2000 and have lost 20 pounds. I know what you mean about loving the sense of control when taking this pill--I can finally get my mind off food and onto other things.

But today was the first day I got a little scared. I've noticed occassional rapid heart palpitations, but today I almost blacked out. My chest was hurting, I felt dizzy and then I sorta phased out for a minute. That's why I came here looking for info.

I've also, since taking phertermine, watched the price skyrocket. I was taking the 30mg pill, then was told the ingredients to make that dosage isn't available anymore. But I could get the 37.5 mg for 50% cost increase. I went from paying $30 per month to about $55 per month. Yesterday, I picked up my next ** and now it costs me $80 per month. This pisses me off.

You know, I've always had a weight problem (weighed 150 in 9th grade, weighed 248 when I went on phertermine in March). But the side effects and the increasing pharmaceutical costs are making me think twice.

I'm gonna start looking for another answer. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, please post them here.

Thanks and hope this helps.

Barbara

Barbara,

Did you talk to a doctor about what you experienced? What were you doing right before this happened? When was the last time you ate or had some water before this happened?
