I am really curious as to how long some of you have been on phentermine? I have taken it off and on for almost 3yrs. I use it to maintain my weight. Anyone else have this concern?

I took it pretty consistently for 10 years. Of course, it got to the point where it was just for energy during the day, not weight loss. I looked up something on the internet that said if u drink lemon water with it instead of staying on a lot of caffeine drinks, it extends the time u can take it and not become dependent on it. Stayed off of it for about 1 1/2 years...took Lipodrene or nothing at all. Wouldn't recommend staying on it for too long. Give yourself breaks, like on the weekends or something. I'm an RN and should have known better, because it gives u "false" energy, so u have a rebound tiredness effect from it. Don't know if this helped...but hope so.

When I was at my dr last, I asked one of his patients how long she had been seeing him and she said 10 years! I almost fainted. Is this something you have to remain on for life if you are prone to obesity?

I have taken it on and off for 6 years. I usually break for a year or 2 though. I need to get back on it again but have to find a doctor who prescribes it.

My doc said that the phen shouldn't be relied on for weight loss...should be taken with diet and exercise...but also said that it doesn't continue working forever. She said that it could last 2 months...or 8 months...it just depends on the person.
But she may have just been saying that to me to make sure I didn't depend on it kinda thing...
