New diet pill Alli, is it safe to use it with phen?

Ive been reading allot about a new pill called Alli, it is similar to Xenical but dont know if its ok to combine it with phen... can some one help me?

I have read tons about alli as well...i thought about taking it with my phen and went to the doctor to weigh in today and totally forgot to ask about phen combined with alli. My doctor encourages me to call if i have any questions so i will be caling her to find out if it is ok. As soon as i know more i will let you know.

There was a bit about Alli on the Today show this am...Im not sure I want diarrhea/loose stool and an "oily discharge" for the amount of time I was taking it.

those side effects usually only happen if you eat foods high in fat. I think the good thing about alli is that they are saying yeah our product helps but it can only do so much if you dont change your diet...it does sound gross though i guess thats incintive enough to eat right if you are taking it.

I read a decent article about Alli on the-diet-pills-report.com. Aside from the messy side effects, it sounds ok. I'd like to hear from somebody who has actually tried alli

My first doctor's appointment was on OCT 8th, at a physician's weightloss clinic. He prescribed Phendimetrazine , 105mg, once a day, and also told me to buy the Alli. He told me to take 2 Alli, everyother day with my "heaviest" meal. I've been doing that, and as long as my meals are low in fat, I've had not gross (oily ) side effects. BUT, when I did eat a fatty mexican meal, and took the Alli with it, I did see the oily side effects. Let me try and explain with out grossing you out-- I didn't get the oily gas, but instaed, when I had a bowel movement, it was normal and had oil in the toilet with it, like someone poured orange oil into the toilet. It was gross and enlightening to see how much oil was in that fatty meal. But like I said, that's only happened when I ate really fatty stuff, which I've been trying to avoid since! My question for my doctor when I go back in three weeks will be "If you're promoting an extremely low fat diet, why do we need Alli anyway. How does it help if there's now fat in your meals?"

ALLI is the OTC of Xenical which is a fat blocker. Basically it blocks all the fat from being digested in yourstomach and sends it out through your intestines. I doubt it could hurt but it can have some very unpleasant side efftects, that if you can live with id say go for it...you could also just eat low fat, high protein with complex carbs. Good luck.

YESS I WAS ON ALLI AND I FOR SURE HAD LOTS OF DIARREAH ALL THE TIME UNTIL I BASICALLY STOPPED EATING MUCH FOOD....AND SO IN MY OPINION IF U DONT EAT ALL THE FATTY FOODS U ARE GONNA LOSE WEIGHT ANYHOW......AND THE ALLI IS VERY EXPENSIVE AND FOR ME WASNT WORTH THE AMOUNT OF WEIGHT I WAS LOSING WHICH WASNT MUCH IN A MONTH...MY DOCTER SAID NOT TO TAKE THE ALLLI AND PHEN TOGATHER AS U SHOULD NOT TAKE 2 DIFFERENT KINDS OF DIET PILLS TOGATHER.....READ ABOUT THE PHEN AND IT WILL TELL U NOT TO TAKE ANY OTHER DIET PILL WITH IT...AND IFU R HAVING TONS OF STOOL IT COULD LESSEN THE BENIFIT OF THE PHEN........THE OILEY STOOLS AND GAS AND YUCKY STOMACH ACHE ISNT WORTH IT TO ME......BUT EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT......THATS JUST MY OPINION....MY FRIEND TOOK ALLI FOR A YEAR AND ONLY LOST 12 POUNDS AND A WHOLE LOT OF MONEY......NO THANKS!!!!!

My doctor recommended I take Alli with Phentermine from the moment he prescribed the phentermine. He said that Alli is really Xenical but only 1/2 the strength/dose that used to be the prescription Xenical. I love it, I do go to the bathroom once after each meal but otherwise I've had no bad side effects. It really helps me personally and I've ordered a 6 month supply

I was looking into this as well, and it's nice to know the dose you are taking of the Alli, can you tell me if it's helping you loose more weight with the phen. than it was with just phen alone.

My doctor suggested that I get the Alli to take when I start my Phen. She also put me on a mild blood pressure pill (Fluid pill) So I would say go for the Alli, do watch what fats you eat to keep the Alli side effects to a minimum. Good Luck!

I wanted to post again, I put it in a PM to aw but felt the need to post here.

I've taken Alli since starting Phentermine. Lost 24.4 in ONE month. A friend has taken only phentermine for TWO months and lost 25 pounds

Now people are different but I think the alli really boosts my weight loss. I love my Alli I take 3 pills a day, one before each big meal like recommended!

I've heard of the combinations you can take of phen and anti-depressants but they all say to combine it with Prozac and that Lexapro would we bad

Also, and this is very important: Phen/fen is NOT the same thing as Alli or Xenical. Phen/fen was a combo drug that works on neurotransmitters in your brain, serotonin and dopamine. Fen-Phen (however you want to spell it) was responsible for severe cardiovascular problems, especially in women. Pulmonary Hypertension is one of the most dangerous. The Phentermine portion of Phen/fen is still available as a prescription "diet" pill. It is an appetite suppressant that works by altering brain chemistry. Even on it's own (without the fenfluramine) it has unpleasant side effects, not unlike anti-depressant side effects. Alli (orlistat) works on enzymes in your intestines that break down fat molecules. These are very, very different drugs.

I think I read something about Alli the other day... Something about the FDA said it was causing liver problems. Has anyone heard this also?

Apparently you are on to something. I found this:

“Very few adverse events have been reported, which is significant when you consider that more than six million people have used Alli since we launched [it] in 2007,” said a company spokesperson.

“Most of these reports have been mild and have not provided evidence for clinical concern; none have been causally linked to Alli. Liver changes (specifically elevation in liver function tests) are common and can have many causes.”
