    Lightbulb

Menus offer inspiration when we're unfocused. I thought I'd start a new thread for them, though - the folks in the main forum probably don't want to see the Atkins thread floating to the top all the time. LOL!

So here's what I had yesterday:

    Breakfast
    Cheeseburger with bleu cheese dressing
    2 deviled egg halves

    Lunch
    small pile of turkey
    2 thick slices provolone
2 deviled egg halves (can't get enough of these lately!)

    Snack
    Cookies n Creme Atkins bar

    Dinner
    4 Italian sausages
green peppers pan roasted in olive oil
melted provolone over the top (mmmmm!)
    TGIF's artichoke & spinach side
    Gerry
    ...

    ...

I went off the wagon....I haven't posted this anywhere else yet. I kept it within 60 minutes...like the book said.

    I had nothing for breakfast.

I had 2 of McDonald's tiny double cheeseburgers, a handful of french fries and a couple of sips of the kid's Dr.Pepper...then I ordered one of their new strawberry banana shakes...had about five bites...it was nasty...threw it away...might have just been the sugar I detested.

Anyhow...I've not had anything since....but I'm considering quitting this whole thing...I don't see it doing me anygood.

The book addresses not getting into ketosis and still losing weight/inches

It does not address getting into ketosis and NOT losing weight...so I don't know what to do. I'm ready to throw in the towel. See my post in the challenge thread.

She's in ketosis, curlygirly, that's why she's so frustrated with no scale movement.

Thatch, look, you're closer to your goal than most of us. That means losing those last few pounds is going to take you longer and require harder work. There are advantages to low carbing that you've mentioned in your posts over the past couple of weeks, such as less fatigue due to blood sugar fluctuation. Focus on those positives. Sure, you're going to crave carbs now and then, but they aren't overwhelming, are they? Aren't they lessening with time?

Honey, you can't have come this far in your journey without some pretty large cajones. Hang in there and give it another two weeks. What's the harm in that, hmmm?

Now if I hear you whine one more time about this, I'm going to give you a swift kick in the patootie.

    Oh, yeah, menus.

I had bacon and green pepper strips wrapped in a slice of provolone. Three meals worth. They hit the spot, for some reason. Then, thanks to Mentor Keew, I crammed a fistful of pepperoni slices in my face just before bed.

AND I moved from pink to purple last night, which made me feel pretty darned good. I'll wait until Monday to weigh, but I'm optimistic.

Oh Gerald...you're good for me!! You're message was so needed...though I continued to go off the diet last night...finally had my chocolate...I'm going to work hard to keep up low carbs...maybe not induction style...but still low...thanks for your support...I think with classes starting next week...fitness and conditioning is one of them...I might see some results.

Oh...I've been trying 6-7 months for these last few pounds...how long do I have to do this to lose the last of it??

I'm in ketosis too and my scale is not moving either, unless you count upward movement. I am honestly doing everything I can, no cheats, no nothing. Lots of water... etc.

I'm no where near my ideal weight.

I don't know how much longer to give it before I throw in the towel myself.

    YIKES!! McDonalds even?

This is why you CANNOT skip meals.

Slow- Is your scale still going up? How much cheese are you eating? Is it more than 3 ounces? I've been eating way too much cheese and no veggies and my scale is laughing at me. So I'm cutting back on the cheese.
That scale should not be going up.

    Gerry- GREAT JOB!! PURPLE HAZE!!

    Keew,
From my experience with Atkins, you are eating a lot. A know it says eat to your desire and eat the fats , still cut back. I ususally do because I have so much weight to lose.

I had to eat alot. I was hungry. And totally not satisfied. I waited half hour...as Dr. Atkins suggested, but to no avail. So I ate until I was satisfied. It was quite a low carb count day as well.

I tried to cut down on the fat once, and hit a stall. That ****ed. As Atkins says you can't do a lower fat version, it just won't work.

    slow lol

I tell ya, I am surely not having the successes some folks are. I peed on a stick at lunch though and it was pretty dark

I would like to cut the cheese (giggle!!) out entirely but I don't know how realistic that is for me. So far I haven't had any today, and yesterday I had 2 ounces.

I haven't heard anything specific about Atkins messing with your cycle, but I'm getting the PMS symptoms early this month. (By a couple of weeks.)

I think I have either an extremely resistant metabolism or I'm just a freak of nature. I told myself I wasn't gonna weigh on but once a week but I can't do that, it messes up my OCD.

Well that's my update, TMI I'm sure

    How YOU doin?

    Wink

Wow...this is the first time I've read through these posts, and it seems like everyone is doing a great job of supporting each other!

I am a fellow low carb dieter. I have been doing this for 2 months now; the 6 weeks with phen and the last 2 weeks or so without because the phen was reeking havoc on my female cycle.

I just wanted to add some encouragement, even to those that have lost more than me. I have lost 22 lbs already on this diet. The food is a little boring, but I'm determined to stick with it.

Two hints: If you want chocolate, try the Atkins chocolate bars. They only count as 2 carbs and they are REALLY good! If you want McDonalds burgers, just don't eat the bun. It may look a little funny, but if I have to have McDonalds, I eat 2 plain double cheeseburgers without the buns.

And what did I miss regarding the cheese discussion? I eat lots of cheese (not the single-slice kind though), and so far that hasn't been a problem.

My meals are pretty boring. Eggs and bacon or sausage for breakfast, or a carb-solution drink if I'm in a hurry. Salami, cheese, cottage cheese, or a small salad with ranch for lunch (maybe with some pre-cooked chicken strips). A small steak or pork chop for dinner with asparagus or a salad (the salad size depends on how many carbs I've had that day). I snack on salami and cream cheese, cheese, a carb solution, sardines (sorry, I like 'em ), or whatever for a snack.

If you get discouraged, take a deep breath and stay with it! We can get through this together! Good luck and congratulations to everyone so far!

Ivie - Welcome! Yup, everyone here gets along and cares about each other. We're glad you're joining us! Congrats on the 22 lb loss to date. Feels good, doesn't it? I haven't yet, but I know that someday I'll have to grab fast food, and I plan to make it a chicken caesar salad from McD's. I like 'em, they have a good beat, and I can dance to 'em. I know fresh produce is expensive in Alaska - do the McD's up there offer salads? Come join us in the Atkins Challenge thread and we'll talk some more.

Slow - have you thought about irradiated beef? LOL! Sorry to hear about your burger tribulations. Maybe a George Foreman grill would help?

    Menus yesterday:

    Dinner
Taco salad (lettuce, seasoned beef, cheese, sour cream)
