I called Betty this morning, and made deposit for me and hubby. We just went for an inside room, since everyone has told us that the windows are teensy, and you're never in your room anyway. Hope it will work out okay.
The only problem with this cruise is that it's so far off! Waiting is hard.
Nitra's out there cruising again this week, you know. Warm water, sunshine, sting rays (I hope!)warm breezes........sounds heavenly, doesn't it.
See you there!!

"Never Give Up And Never Give In
Okay, spill -- what are ginger caps?? where do I get some?
Are We Cruisin' Yet?
Yea what are ginger caps, I know my husband won't be sea sick (Navy) I don't know about myself....I'm getting ginger caps just in case. LOL Paula![]()
Are we there yet ???????????
I've also heard people have success with something called "Sea Bands". They go around your wrist, and supposedly use accupressure to prevent motion sickness.
I'm sure they're very fetching, and will look lovely with our dress-up clothes!!Maybe we could glue some sequins on them, or something. Rhinestones, perhaps?
Me -- I'm trying them all. Sea Bands, ginger caps, and anything else anyone comes up with.

Just wondering, will we need a passport?
I was wondering the same thing. I asked a couple people at work and they seemed to think with the hightened security that we will or that it would be a good idea. Does anyone know for sure and where do we get them. Paula![]()
Are we there yet ???????????
I don't believe you do need a passport for Mexico. I know you don't for Canada. Can't hurt to have one, though, and it's not hard.
Check in your phone book - usually one of the local courthouses has a passport office.
Lots of places take passport photos - again, look in your phone book.

Ok here is the deal.. I have been on 2 cruises. The first one I went armed with those little patches you put behind your ears, but I didnt use them. I should have because the first night I started throwing up like a MAD DOG ! I took draminine after that and was ok, but tired.. I also used sea bands and those worked as well.. And I thought it was all in my HEAD. Well those DO really work. My son gets car SICK all the time. Since I started using those about 3 months ago on him , not ONE time ! Even on the winding roads from CA to Idaho !
Passport. - Before I know you didnt, you need your ORIGINAL birth certificate and ID such as drivers license etc to bring to the dock with you. Now with heightened security, I might imagine they would want a passport. I will ask betty when I talk to her tomorrow. I for one am getting a passport anyhow because I think eventually we will all need one. I believe you can get the applications at your local post office. It takes like 6-8 weeks for it to come and the cost is somewhere around 60.00 if I remember right. ( I was going to get one last time we went to Mexico )....
Ok Ginger caplets.. this was the 2nd cruise.. I took those and that was IT and never got sick. I learned lots from a board that I visited all about cruising ! Its a great board and you learn lots of stuffSoooooo..... that is the deal with that. I got the ginger caps at walmart, something like 6.50 for 100 of them or something.
Hope all this helps![]()

Nal & Sea thanks for your quick responses. I think I'll go ahead and get our passports just in case it needed. Sea thanks for the info on seasick meds atleast we have some idea on things to take. I'm going to find a cruise forum and see what I can find out. Paula![]()
Are we there yet ???????????
OH SHOOT!I don't know if i can find my original birth certificate!
Silver....you can order one from the county you were born in ... Its like 13.00 I think and takes a few weeks. You must have an ORIGINAL..not a copy.... with you at the dock.. oh and a hint for the cruise board is cruisecritic![]()
"Never Give Up And Never Give In
can't you also get a certified copy?? when i went to canada, i ordered a certified copy of my birth certificate because i had lost my original one...
you can also have your copy mailed NEXT DAY if you in a rush
*shake wut your mama gave ya*

Yes, certified is the one they send you from the courthouse. Its not your original original because well you knowBut it has the raised seal on it and you must take that one. What I am saying is you cant get your BC and make a copy of it , they wont accept it without the raised seal
So yes, certified
Thanks

Ok guys No you dont need a passport but you will need the certified copy of your birth certificate or you will be denied boarding. I just went thru the security stuff and it is not that big of a deal. As for parking at the pier for those of you driving. You take your luggage to the terminal and they take it and check it then you drive to the lot and a shuttle will take you back to the terminal. Kind of a hassle but hey its vacation so who cares. Now I have done 4 cruises and have yet to get sea sick. Like the Captain says every day If you cant handle the motion of the ocean then take a pill and be merry. That man is a crack up! The crew is all trained to help if someone gets sick. Usually you are having too much fun to notice! Oct is a long way off but just think how fast it will get here and how much time you have to get ready! Save up for those new clothes!
Everyhing is set! We're booked!!I'm so excited. What month do you guys think we should start hitchinking? We're coming from NC! So maybe, August?! I'm not looking forward to flying....but it will be worth it!
Now...if I could just figure out how to get "everything" lifted before then!![]()
Im just so excited! October is so far off! Oh well we all have time to look good and save up for some new clothes!
WOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOO ! Its never to far off, it gets here before you KNOW IT !!!!! Trust me !!! And Nitra you should know that ! I already started searching belize to see where I want to go snorkelingI cant WAIT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nitra...where else does it go ?? Key west and Cozumel ?? Sun and fun, here I come baby !!
"Never Give Up And Never Give In
Sea I bumped up the original post with the itin. Key West is PARTY town!! Cozumel is too but good shopping.
Lane you can drive to mississippi and carpool the rest of the way with us !
I never have been snorkling,do i bring my own?
Thanks Silver! You never know - I may end up doing that!![]()
Daydreaming about this trip is what's gonna get me through this winter!
Nitra - I keep forgetting to ask. Do we get a chance to swim with rays? If not, hubby is going to wring my neck. Rays are our favorite beasties!
Also, I assume passport will suffice if we've already got one?
Are We Cruisin' Yet?
Uhhh nal we arent going to Grand Caymen on this one BUT we do go to Cozumel and I think there is a dolphin encounter there. Also they dont have the Belize tours listed yet so might be something totally cool there. Just dont tell him yet cause things are always subject to change. I didnt even think about the stingray thing when we were looking for a week to go..that would have been totally cool but Grand Caymen as pretty as it is, is wayyyy expensive. You even have to pay to go to the beach there. We will just get him drunk and tell him he snorkled with the stingrays..hehe.
As for your own equipment.. no. If they offer a snorkling shore excursion they will provide the equipment. If you choose to go off on an independent one there are usually tons of shops to rent the equipment.
Nitra your a hoot, Nal does your hubby drink. (LOL) I wouldn't even try to get my hubby drunk. He doesn't drink but once a year maybe and than he never shuts up. Bla,Bla,Bla..ON and ON.. I love him to death but he can preach a sermon better than most Pastors. The funniest thing about it all is he's really the quite type and doesn't talk a lot....Can't wait to go cruisen...Paula![]()
