Question Phen & Slow Release Iron

I've suffered from anemia for as long as I can remember~ in 2006 I was told to start taking Iron-FE. After taking it for about a week, I couldn't stand the side-effects..... in particular, the constipation was aweful. I stopped taking it..... so here I am almost 3 years later and still suffering from anemia, only this time I was told I MUST take the iron....

Even taking the Phen, I hadn't really noticed an increase in energy~ my doctor says that the iron supplement might actually help with my weight loss, once my iron level gets into the normal range. Has anyone else with anemia that takes iron supplements experienced in an increase in weight loss when taking it when Phen?

    Thanks!

Hello. I am anemic also. The doctor has me on 3 iron pills a day!!! I have a hard time loosing weight, but gain if I eat what normal people eat. It is so frustrating. I haven't noticed the iron helping me loose, but my levels aren't up to the normal range. Now I'll be curious to see if it helps. I sure hope it does. I still stay so tired even with the phen. I hope it is just my iron levels and that the tiredness will go away as the iron levels go up.
Keep me posted on how it effects you!!! Good Luck!!!!

Well I've been taking my iron for a little over a week and wow, do I feel different. The first couple of days were rough, but now I am getting used to it. I was a little nauseated and felt flushed~ One thing that I've noticed is that I have an incredible amount of energy. Not sure if that's the iron or just the excitement of being refocused on my goals, but who cares~ whatever keeps me going. ;)

I'm supposed to take iron as well because I am borderline anemic, and I get cramps in my legs at night if my iron is low..but I also stopped taking them due to the side effects..phen is bad enough let alone adding an iron pill ontop of it..if it helps please let me know..I might need to deal with it?

One thing that helps with the iron side effects is taking it at night before you go to bed. Also, if you take it with orange juice, your body absorbs it better. I've never taken an over the counter iron. Mine are prescription and they haven't ever made me sick. It is important to keep your levels up. If I ever stop taking iron, my drop quickly. The doctors have never figured out why. Anemia does run in my family though!! Good luck taking it!!!
