Do not use Concerta if you have used an MAO inhibitor such as isocarboxazid (Marplan), tranylcypromine (Parnate), phenelzine (Nardil), rasagiline (Azilect), or selegiline (Eldepryl, Emsam) within the past 14 days. Serious, life-threatening side effects can occur if you use Concerta before the MAO inhibitor has cleared from your body.Drugs that can increase phenytoin levels in your blood include: methylphenidate (Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana); and
both of these meds are amphetamine type meds, have you been taking concerta for long? My daughter was on concerta for a while and I tried one, it felt alot like the phenteramine. There was loss of appetite and increased energy.
From what I know of that med it is basically a form of time released rittalin, a stimulant and I would not think that a person taking it on a regular basis would find that they needed to lose weight. When my daughter was on it she was a skinny little string bean, when she stopped taking it she gained 30 pounds just like that.

I have been on concerta for about a year maybe longer. But I have been on them for pretty much all my life mainly Rittlan which is almost the same at Concerta but time Release like u said. I have had a weight problem for about 10 years. When I was on a stimulant I can't remember when I was off. Only when I was pregnant .my highest weight was 285. so I did need to lose weight.
My son is on Concerta for his ADHD and is obese, his doc said the can't take the Phen as it wil basicly the same drug...well not the same, but it works the same...good news is the concerta curbs his hunger so he is losing anyway...........I sent him some White Kidney Bean Carb Inhibiter pills, they are helping him and they don't mess with any of his meds.......try the web page druginteraction.com....it tells you what meds you can take, what you can't even what over the counters are safe...heck even food or drink...good site

Can put weight on foot 11-27-2008, start rehab to walk. walking half mile a day, after work...while I have only lost 6 pounds I did drop another pant size, inches lost and old jeans fitting means more to me than the acutal number on the scale..it is about being fit,,not fitting into a majic number on the scale.
I would listen to your doctor and call them if you have a reaction or any questions. The people on this forum are not doctors and should not advise you against your doctors orders. Your doctor knows your medical history better than anyone on this forum does. You said even on this medication (concerta) you have still had a weight problem. So the doctor must think the phen will help. Good Luck and keep us posted. We are here to help with weightloss questions and support!!
