    Question Anesthesia & Phendimetrazine

I've been taking 105mg of Phendimetrazine in the am and 2 35mg throughout the day, since the end of April. I lost 14 lbs in the first month. I've only lost about 2 more lbs since may but sometimes I forget to even take the 35 mg tablets. I am not discouraged because I feel much better about my weight and I know I would lose more if I became more active.
My concern is I got to a weight-loss Dr. to receive these pills and my Family Dr. doesn't know. I am scheduled to have laser surgery on my cervix soon. I will be getting anesthesia and I don't want to have to inform the dr. there either. How long before the surgery would I have to stop taking Phendimetrazine to have it out of my system? Are there any severe effects with the Anesthesia and Phendimetrazine? Thanks!

    Congrats on your weightloss! :)
Just last week I had an upper endoscopy and had NO complications. I didn't take the meds that morning of the procedure and I did just fine. If you are worried about it being out of your system, then I would suggest stopping the meds 3 days before your procedure.

Just an FYI though...You should tell the doctor that you are on it....just in case...that way if god forbid, there are complications, then they will know what you had been taking in the past few days.
Think about your health first....I would tell them! :)

Good luck to you. I had the same procedure...and it's pretty painless...not too terrible. Some cramping and oozies afterwards...but not too bad! :)

Please, please, please, tell your doctor. It is very important that the anesthesiologist know what medications you are on because there can be so many interactions between different drugs. Even if you are having a local anesthetic there is a good chance that you will have some IV sedation. It is not worth the risk. I doubt that there will be any reason that you cannot have the procedure with anesthesia but, it would be better if the doctor knew before you were in the operating room/procedure room, so that they can decide if you need to stop the meds. You are taking a stimulant and this could have some adverse interactions with some of the sedatives and narcotics that are used in anesthesia. This is one risk factor you have control over. Good luck with the procedure, I'm sure you will do well.

I needed surgery and when the anesthesiologist heard I was taking phentermine he would not preform the surgery and insisted that I gat an echocardiogram and clearance from my primary doc, who like yours did not kow I was on phen b/c I get it from a diet doctor. All the tests came back fine and even the cardiologist said that taking phen was OK since I was loosing weight with it and excersizing.....but since that happened I asked to be changed to phedimetraizine so that I would not ge that scare again. You should tell them, but beware of the reaction, they might call for extra tests.
