There are a lot of threads on here about Xenical. I've taken it before and am currently back on it. Your question "Does it work?" can have many different answers and it depends on you mean.
What it does is rids your body of about 30% of the fat that you consume when you eat. So, in that case, yes it works and is approved by the FDA.
Keep in mind though, that if your body is automatically removing 30% of fat you consume, it's got to go somewhere! If you continue to consume a high fat diet under the notion that Xenical is taking care of a 1/3 of the fat, you will not only have the icky results that make so many people dislike Xen, but your habits won't change over the long term and maintaining weight loss will be difficult.
I eat low fat/calorie. The "dreaded" side effects don't happen when you consume only a healthy amount of fat. I've only had one bad effect and that is once when I drunkenly ate something bad. If you don't plan on changing your eating habits, I do not recommend it as it'll be a waste of money for you as you probably won't want to be on it for more than a few days.
So, with a good diet, yes, Xenical does help aid weight loss.
