Hi,
I'm late for Boston Market, where my Mom and my toddler are waiting to meet me so I can bring her to church with me, but I'm always late so they're used to it, and I'm compelled to ask this mind over matter question.

I'm on Methadone and Prozac, which have afforded me an extra 80 lbs or so, give or take. This bites, but I've lived with it for four years. I've been on Phentermine for three years, and it has done nothing for my weight, but it keeps me 'going' I guess. In my case it's probably a negative because what I need are healthy daytime meals, and instead I don't eat all day but crave sugar unbelievably in the evening and middle of the night.

My doctor prescribed Adderall at my suggestion, as everything is at my suggestion, unfortunately, and I don't know it I like it or hate it or if whatever prescription I run out of my mind decides that is the one it's missing for that 'normal' feeling that keeps people going.

That said, antidepressants like Effexor and the latest Cymbalta, are not just SSRI (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors) like Lexapro, Prozac, etc.; they are also Norepinephrine and Dopamine reuptake inhibitors, so in essence, taking one of these would more effectively balance one's brain chemestry.

Adderall, if I understand correctly, gives your Dopamine and Norepinephrine neurotransmitters a boost, just as Meridia does for Serotonin.

I have felt great a few times after having taken only Adderall and not Phentermine, and I'm wondering if Phentermine does anything to those neurotransmitters, or if it just speeds you up.

Thoughts?
