Is anyone currenty in or was in a clinical trial for this new drug? I've been looking around for Doctors in my area doing the study but can't find any with openings. Just curious how well it's working.

From what I read it works differenty than how any of the other appetite suppressants work. It actually works on the same mechanism in the brain that marijuana does to make you hungary, only in the opposite manner.

It is also being studied to help stop smoking. Sounds almost too good to be true.

The trials for weight loss are somewhat misleading. One and two year trials have been conducted. In the one trials, the average weight loss was 19 pounds over the course of a year. In the two year trials, weight loss was an average of 31 pounds in two years. The two year trial had several focus groups, one of which was taken off Acomplia after 1 year. Eighty percent of those taken off the drug regained the weight they had lost, suggesting that long-term use would be required to maintain the lose. There is some concern about the permanent hormonal changes Acomplia may cause, which has delayed FDA approval. Another reason for the delay has been the high rate of major depressive disorder experienced by participants.
