Question
How do you do it in a 24 hr time span? For example, I've decided to be brave (even though it's contraversial) & take my Lexapro & Wellbutrin (which I've been on for nearly a year & has helped my anxiety/depression tremendously) along with the Phen. I ordered the Phen off the net (don't ream me!) because I couldn't get a straight answer out of my dr. She basically poo poos all weight loss meds. I BEGGED & PLEADED for an ** (for anything!) but her response was that most people go on those meds & think that they can eat more & don't succeed at all. She said nothing about the drugs contradicting eachother. (I think Psychiatrist's brains must go a mile a minute & wonder how much they actually LISTEN) Anyway...

I took the Phen this morning & the Lexapro/Wellbutrin just now tonite thinking a good 12 hr time difference would be a good idea. Phen seems to wear off around dinnertime (just when I need it most!) I have minimal side effects with the Phen - just a little nausea - & NO side effects with the anti-depressants. I've thought about doing it the other way around, but I don't want to be up all night (good ol' Phen!).

Do the rest of you space out your drugs or take everything at once? I also take Zyrtec as needed for extreme allergies but haven't fit that one into my day yet. I've just been dealing with itchy, watery eyes - maybe that has something to do with my nausea (sinus drainage).

Okay, so I'm just babbling now. What's a good way to fit all the meds in - my poor liver :( - considering no side effects (very important point) - & get the best results & lowest risk of harming myself?

Please respond! (But I'm sensitive so don't make me feel bad for going against dr's orders... I feel guilty enough.)

Hi, there - I certainly understand that losing weight is probably foremost on your mind, so you want to take the Phen. I am on several medications, including Phen, and I have minimal side effects. I have been completely honest with my doctors, though. Instead of taking the full 37.5 mg of the Phen, I take 1/2 pill to cut out the racing heart issue. I also take 20 mg of Prozac about 1 hour after taking Phen. I have to take something else to help me sleep at night. I haven't had any problems. I think it is important for you to talk to a doctor that you feel comfortable with, and tell him/her ALL the medications you are taking. If the doctor that you see right now will not prescribe what you want, and it is obviously extremely important for you to lose weight if you are buying it behind his/her back . . . . find another doctor. There may be other combinations of drugs that work better with the Phen. I've heard that Prozac is very commonly taken with it.

Take care of yourself and find a doctor who can work with you, and you can be honest with.

Not that this would work for you, but this is how I have been taking those exact meds (almost exact): First thing in the morning (literally right when I wake up) I take 150mg of Wellbutrin. I then have my coffee, got to the gym, etc. (6 -8). I have breakfast, then about 2 hours later I take the Phen (which my doctor prescribed). I then take my second does of Wellbutrin (150mg) around 2 (which is approx 8 hours after my first dose--you are supposed to wait at least 8 hours between dosages). My doctor just described Lexapro as well because of my anxiety. I am going to probably take that in the early evening and see how it goes. I take 15mg of Phen in the am, but have tried taking 30mg as well. Both dosages worked fine. I am trying to stick with the 15mg until it doesnt work anymore, then will go up again.

Hi, just wanted to introduce myself to all three of you. I consider all of you brave and inspirational to me. I was formerly on lexapro and wellbutrin, which I stopped three months ago due to hair loss and weight gain. So far my mental health has been Ok ( some very bad days but also many ok/good days ). my doc would not prescribe any weight loss meds (even though I gained 20 lbs in 2/12 yrs on ad's). I was at 139 (5'2" with small frame). He said that I wasn't fat enough (obviously his opinion). Anyway I took phen for 30 days and started losing hair with the 7 lbs (could have been more but didn't exercise!). Also, noticed some anxiety coming back, phen related, I don't know but nerve racking nontheless.
Anyhoo, I am going to start the phen again today. I got down to 125 in the mornings and now back up to 128 (could be cause period is due tomorrow). I plan on only taking 1/2 of the 37.5 mg. (which I ordered off of the net behind my doc's back). Hopefully, the hair loss won't be too significant.
When I say u r inspirational it is because now I won't be afraid to get back on the ad's if needed.
Does this message make any sense??? Sorry to ramble on but it was nice to see other women in the same situation.
Thanks for listening.

Thank you girls so much for replying to my message. I didn't die in my sleep so I guess all is okay for now. (Sorry to be morbid). It's now morning & I just took my 30mg of Phen alone. We'll see if there are any substantial or different side effects.

I've been doing A LOT of research & it looks like side effects from Phen & Anti-depressants - although severe - are very, very rare. I've only read of 1 case exactly & he was taken care of at the hospital. I think it's a liability - this COULD HAPPEN FOR THIS REASON (something to do with the brain chemicals) - but it probably won't. They want to cover their backsides & that's perfectly understandable.

Of course, I worry before taking any med (even Advil) because the warning signs are so scary these days. Nobody wants to be that 1 in a trillion with a bad episode. I'll keep you posted on my progress. I'm glad you all didn't ream me!
