Has anyone whose taken Phen for quite a while noticed that your body becomes immune to it (loses its effectiveness)? I've taken Phen for several years and my Dr. told me that your body does build up a tolerance over time. Has anyone ever tried changing to a different diet med. (like Meridia) just temporarily, then gone back to Phen to see if it's effectiveness came back? I'm considering that choice, but don't want to go "backwards" in my weight if it doesn't work by switching diet meds every couple months.

Cool
I am new to this forum, but I figured I would answer because I have been on phentermine for at least a year and a half. My experience is that it does lose effectiveness, but I find if I change my dose of go off for a day It will kick in a bit again. Do you experience fatigue? I have lost a total of 30 lbs, but then I quit smoking and gained back 6 lbs, I am worried that when I do stop taking this I will gain it back. I would like to lose more wieght and am wondering if this will still help me. I have been on 50mg pills directly through the diet doc. any suggestions?? thanks lisabeth

Hi! I guess I am going to stay on Phentermine (or whatever med my Dr. says) as long as I can. Obesity is a medical condition and should be treated long-term. When you said you're on 50 mg, did you mean on Phen? I didn't even know it came in that dose. I don't really experience fatique, or feel the "high" some people do, I feel basically "normal". I am on 37.5 mg. now. When I was on phen/FEN, I was only on 15 mg. of Phentermine.
How much weight do you want to lose from now? If you've already lost 30 lbs, are you near your goal? Unfortunately, the statistics are not in your favor if you do go off the medication. In 5 years, there is only a 5% chance all your weight will stay off.

Hope this info. has been somewhat helpful.

hey thanks for the reply. I just checked the bottle I guess its the 30 mg. I am so used to seeing all the different mg for all the other kinds of diet meds on the bottle thats what I thaught it was. All I know is its the yellow capsules. I tried to do the blue ones and thaught too strong. Is that what you did before. my ultimate goal is to be 115-120. I hope I can get to it. thanks lisabeth

Hi (again) --

I've had different colors of Phen, but the prescription was always the same. My pharmacy said it was just a different brand. I've mostly had the blue ones that have tiny capsules inside.

Your goal is 115-120! I haven't weighed that in over 20 years! I am 5' 5" and weigh 145. I feel better @ 135 but it's nearly impossible to get lower than 142 and ever stay there for more than 1 day! How tall are you?

I am 5'3" and weigh 140. I have been overwieght my whole life anywhere from 20 to 50 pounds so I would like to be less for a change. I was graced with big bones and a round face so I look fat even with just a few pounds. The rate of people who gain weight after quitting smoking is high, and I would not like to be in that group if at all possible. You sound like your at a pretty healthy weight whats your goal if you don't mind me asking? Just wondering since you have been on it a while when you stopped taking it did you feel tired or any kind of withdrawls? I ran out and had a to wait a few days without it and didn't feel too great. Maybe it was just me.. appreciate all the help guys....

I'm actually not totally off phen. The past year, my Dr. has recommended going 2 weeks on phen, then one week on Xenical. I don't like Xenical that much, but it was what he recommended I do. I have another Dr. apt in 10 days and might ask to go one month with Phen and one month on Didrex. I read that's pretty effective and Didrex only costs about $10 a month @ the pharmacy I go to!

I guess my goal weight would be 140, but a SOLID 140. My body seems to have a setpoint weight now of 145, 146. That may not sound like alot of pounds, but it's enough to make my clothes tight!

Bye for now!!
PS I should admit, I hate exercise and really don't do any, except keeping up with my 2 teenage kids. I don't smoke, so I have never had to deal with that weight-gain issue, but I have a friend who is constantly struggling with that habit. It's a tough one to break!

Hi mf--

I wish I could tell you how to lose that extra 10 pounds because I seem to struggle with 10 stubborn pounds on-going--ever since phen-FEN was taken off the market.

I was considering Meridia, but have been hearing stuff lately that's kind of shocking. There's a possibility Meridia could be yanked off the market like Fen & Redux was! My only strategy is to log all the food I eat in a journal and try to take off a pound or two at a time, but the scale seems to be moving VERY slow! (If you read my previous post, I do admit to NOT liking any exercise - that is probably my personal downfall in struggling with the extra 10 pounds!)

hi I am a new member, devon I just started taking the blue and white phen pills. I know they will be effective because even now, I have much more of a command over my eating habits and how much I eat. My concern however is that I have seen on some sites and even the warnings on the bottle, that if you have high blood pressure, and are on any beta blockers and other hypertension meds that you shouldnt take the phen. I of course want to be healthy, but one of the reasons I want to lose weight is so I can help in controling the blood pressure. I am concerned because I dont want to have a heart attack, other health issues, and God forbid worse. I also have a doctor who only advises that I exercise and push back from the table. (Heard that before??) I really want to continue to use the product because for once in a long, long, time I felt empowered, and in control of my weight. By the way, I am 51 today, and need to lose at leat 60 lbs (currently at 217) Any help , greatly appreciated. Thanks

Default Dr. Anchors Phen-Pro System
I read an article from an East-coast doctor, Dr. Anchors that is a huge activist for Phen.
His system includes taking phentermine with an anti-depressant to keep your body from building up that tolerance. You won't take the AD med for depression, but something in it counteracts the resistance your body creates. Read the article, it is informative.
You can google his name and you'll probably find it.
I just spoke with Dr. Anchors and he will send out an informative booklet to your doc if you request it.
