Hi. Just wondering if I could get to know others who are trying to lose weight and who have had back surgeries or procedures and/or who is still in a lot of pain like myself. I used to be in great shape before my operation then I could hardly walk, quit exercising, and blew up like a blimp, lol... Also, my metabolism is really sluggish.

Anybody on the board like me? Regardless, I am sooo looking forward to losing weight!

Hi Ladies! I too suffer from cronic back pain. I have two bulging disc and arthritis of the spine. There have been days when I could not walk. When you can't walk you can't exercise And I packed on thirty pounds! (also tried to self medicate with alchol for the pain) I have lost 6 of my thirty and hoping for a great outcome! I now do yoga three times a week (completely changed my life and got rid of the back pain) and cardio/weights three days a week. I would not wish that pain on any body!! I do think losing weight does lessen the pain. All the best to you guys!

I'm not sure what its called I forget, but as a young child I got an illness that caused my hip bones and joints to start going soft... So I have had lots of surgeries and procedures done to fix it up, such as a brace and pins in my hips. I can't do much and if I do I have to break for a week or so just to give my body a rest... Some times the pain is so bad now I cry like a baby or I can't walk. I personally found now that I lost so much weight, it hasn't helped one bit I haven't been working out in about a couple because I have been in so much pain and now with TOM here I can't move much-the winters are worse for me, as the cold hits my bones it stays and I seise up-I should maybe move out of Canada eh? lol
Slow and steady is my advice and don't push your self to hard-if it hurts-stop!!

I have always had a really difficult time with chronic lower back pain. As I have began my weightloss adventure, I have prepared myself already in advance that I will only do what I can do and thats all! No more and no less. I have another area in which I post often and I just spoke on this same topic. I am not sure if its the pilates that I am doing at home every evening, but I sure have a tendency to believe that is what has been helping me. It is really being able to focus on the body and mind overall. Have you ever tried the pilates approach? I recommend the Crunch series myself, but PLEASE StarT OFF SLOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWW! Nothing is worth hurting your body, I really enjoy the one that focus' on the belly, butt, and thights. It's called *Pick Your Spot PILATES* and again its from the Crunch series. You can pick it up at any local WalMart, Target etc. It shouldn't run more than $10-$12 bucks, but it sure has helped me out A TON!!!!!!! Hope this can help you out too, let me know! Good Luck!
