Default I must be doing something wrong...

I am trying to figure out where I am messing this up. I have been on Phen since Feb 14th, and I have lost almost 18 pounds. Now I am not complaining about that at all. But I have been seeing other people who weigh about the same as me, or even less...and they are losing more I am working out, I get my water in (except occasionally a little short), and I am watching my calories. Very frustrating because I havent lost much of anything in the last 3 weeks. So today I am eating more calories...its all I can think of that could be stalling me out liike this. Anyone else have any ideas with what is going wrong??

    Hi Brew City
I think you are doing great. Break down your numbers, 18 lbs in what 8 wks. that is an avg. 2.25 lbs a week. Slow and easy is the best way to lose. I think it may be Ally11 that switches up her calorie intake on her exercise days and I know Kelliee does the samething. On the days you exercise you are going to need more calories to burn and not go into starvation mode.
Ally and Kelliee pass on your advice to Brew City, I think it is great advice.
    Good Luck Keep me posted.
    Keep up the good work

Thanks...I know I am not doing bad, but still frustrating. I have had this problem before when losing weight without taking anything. I hit some serious brick walls and it take A LOT to break them. I am just hoping 6 days at the gym and a ton of water will somehow push it along.

I'm only new to phen (but certainly not to weight loss!) but it seems like you are doing all the right things and losing at a healthy rate.

I know we all want the weight to come off overnight, even with my huge loss in the first week I still think 'oh another few lb would have been nice'. The reality is, it took a long time to gain weight for most of us, so it's unrealistic to expect it to just melt of for weeks/months on end.

The other thing is that everybody is different and comparing ourselves to others is a very bad habit that women tend to adopt, particularly in anything 'looks' related. I'd love to be able to just be me and not measure up next to peers, but it seems to be the way our society works, which of course adds more pressure.

Be proud of what you're achieving, congratulate yourself for persisting and hang in there!
Its time to reveal the real me!

    Hi BrewCity:

I know exactly how you feel right now because my scale has not moved in a week and has actually gone up about 1/2 pound or so. I just started P90X and so I have to keep reminding myself that I am building muscle, muscle weighs more because like you, I am eating good, watching the calories and zig-zagging.

I have to keep going back to looking at how I can see a difference in my body and how the clothes fit. I actually put on a pair of jeans today that I have not worn in 2 weeks because the weather has been so warm. They were falling off me and I had to keep pulling them up. Looking at my journal, I weighed roughly the same...sooooo....we just have to keep our heads in the game. It's not the pounds...its the size....the inches....the fat loss.....

Anybody can lose 5 pounds in a week, week after week, but no one really ever knows how much of that is muscle. The one thing I know for sure is that I am no longer losing muscle. I am gaining it and it might take 3 - 4 weeks before I see that muscle start to burn the fat off in noticeable poundage (is this a word?) but it will happen. But until then, the anxiety and the uncertainty is almost unbearable!

To help with all that...I have decided that if I only lose 10 pounds in the next 3 months, it will be solid fat and it will be better than not losing at all. I was hoping to be 120 by June 26th but I just don't think that will happen for me. It took me 3 months to lose 25 and I see that the closer I am getting to a more normal weight...the more my body is going to fight me for every pound of fat and make me work my *ss off to earn it. It stinks...its unfair....its hard but remember ladies....Its in the struggle we find out just how strong we are. We'll get through this...1 pound at a time...

Hi! I actually have a hard time losing weight, and with phen it has been able to allow me to experiment with weight loss. I trick my body; my friend is a nutritionist and said this is a good way to get past a plateau. Eat in increments all week, for example my week (you do not have to follow) Monday is 1600 calories, Tuesday is 1100 calories, Wednesday is 1400 calories, Thursday is 1100, Thursday is 1200, Friday is 1100, Saturday is 1300 and Sunday is 1200. I have been doing this and planning on switching it up, you might want to switch up workouts too. If your body gets too use to something (it in a way learns the move and starts creating ‘shortcuts’ for itself to complete the task- thus making the workout less effective than it was two weeks ago) it helps you burn. Also my trainer buddy (who has been helping me wonderfully get toned in ways I thought I would never be) said some workouts are better than others (elliptical is better than biking) (jogging even if it’s a little faster than your power walk is better than walking)… hope this makes sense… also I agree with above poster, since your are EATING AND EXCERSISING- that you have probably gained muscle, so you look thinner but the scale isn’t budging , because muscle weighs more than fat (frustrating I know…) have you tried measuring yourself? It can actually keep you sane in moments like this (so you can have evidence of your loss) sorry for the long post, hope this helps.

I share your frustration!!! I started back on Bontril (after about a year off) I think on the 22nd of Feb. Lost 9 lbs the first month (first time on lost 15 and weighed less, WT Heck?) now in month two I have only one week left till my next appt and I have lost only 3 lbs all month. For 3 days I wrote down every morsel followed the under 30 carbs, 1200 calories, and 15 grams of sugar or less...gained a pound and a half during those days, with exercising for 30-45 min each day. Then I went to walking 30-45 min every other day and lost the 1.5 lbs but haven't lost anything else, just yo-yo back & forth with the same 2 lbs. This is BS and I know it because I have done nothing different then the first time I took this stuff, the weight just isn't coming off the same. I tried Adipex once before and hated it but this makes me think the Bontril is close to useless for me now!

My only suggestion would to be focus on the carbs instead of the calories. Some people don't agree with low carb diets, and I completely understand why, but it's the only thing that seems to work time after time for me. At the clinic I go to here in Tennessee, everyone has to take a nutrition class before they will actually give you phentermine. The class outlines a low carb diet that they say works best with the phentermine. It eliminates all bread, pasta, sugar, caffeinated beverages, and basically anything with high carbs. The daily intake of carbs is limited to 50 carbs per day. It has worked for me, and friends of mine who weren't even taking phentermine. You have lost a good amount so far, keep up the good work!

Thanks everyone for all the support. I know I am losing at a good pace. I would be happy with 1.5-2 pounds a week. But measurements and pounds arent budging. And I have tried all my old trainers little tricks to getting past the plateau and nothings working. As far as doing a low carb diet, that could never happen for me. I get a little cranky (and some serious migraines) with out a certain amount of carbs. I dont eat bad carbs, but I do still keep them in my diet balanced out with everything else like it should be. So I am just going to keep working out, eating healthy, and ****ing water like a camel, and hopefully my body decides to jump on board with me. But thanks again ladies, its always nice to have some people behind you

If you are stuck you have to figure out where in your routine is causing the problem. For me I had to up my workouts. 5-6 times a week doing an hour of cardio, and up the amount of water and calories. I was stuck for WEEKS!! Now I am having to drink about 120oz of water a day just to get the scale moving. Are you working out? If you arent there is only so much a restricted calorie diet can do before your body rebels.

    Default Hang In there.

    Hey BrewCity,
I know this whole diet thing is frustrating. I know at one point I am gonna be just as frustrated as you and when I get there I hope I have all my Phends To help me out. I do not have much advice but you are doing what we were told to do. Everybody's Body is different. I have a MAJOR tummy issue. So my clothes are big in the butt area, the legs and waist. Still wearing an 18.......Wondering if I will ever get to a smaller size? YES I will. Some people who post weigh more then me and wearing a 16. I beleive are body's are all different and I try to not let OTHER people's weight and size bother me. We are doing what we need to do. And once again I cannot STRESS enough..... This weight did not come on over night so we will not lose it over night....Hang in there Brew. I am cheering for you

Thanks Kim...yeah I know its a slow process, and I want it to be a semi slow process. I am not trying to drop 20 pounds a month or anything, but even just a pound or so a week would make me a happy girl. thankfully my little stall out finally started moving again. Its going to be a battle with the scale but it will all work itself out eventually

If your belly is whats being stubborn I read on some post on here to wrap it when you work out...someone said they actually wear their spanx under their workout clothes. Otherwise maybe one of the belly dancing classes....which look super fun by the way .

i have a golds gym band that wraps around with velcro that i wear when i work out its just a little awkward at times but let me tell you... you will feel and see how much you sweat when you take it off...it's nasty and awesome at the same time.it also helped me with my posture when working out, kind of keeps you up straight.my friend got it for me from target and i imagine its under 15 dollars.

supplement wise, has anyone ever tried or heard of Almased? it's used either as a fasting supplement or you can substitute it in place of muscle milk etc. i had it a few times and it doesn't have much of its own flavor but with juice or honey it's not bad. it's a blend of soy, milk and honey proteins...25 grams soy protein per serving and glycemic load of 4.lots of probiotics and enzymes too...i don't think i'd fast off this and veg broth alone for a week as they say you can but i'll have one in the morning on the way to work or at lunch

The cheap way is to put saran wrap over your tummy, or cut out three holes in a big garbage bag and wear it under your shirt.... let me tell you that when you take these two iteams off that alot of sweat comes pouring off. though more people perfer saran wrap, because when around tummy it helps remind you to keep your posture and keep tummy in (helping ur ab muscles)

I have been on phen since december and have only lost 16 lbs I eat less and work out from time to time, but can't seem to get the scale moving. Now Iam wearing a size 10 in pants now when before I was in a size 14. I think I will try walmart for my next refill. I have been feeling the same way this week. Plus some weeks my stomach seems to getting smaller, then all of a sudden I look 7 months preggos. I don't know what's going on either.I talked to my doctor and he wont up the dose.My problem is I don't have all this energy he claims Iam suppossed to have.In fact all I want to do is sleep in the day time. Then around 2 am it feels like the phen kicks in because Iam wide awake

Well from the sounds of it the scale might not be moving because you arent working out enough or it could be what you are eating. If you are like me, working out 5 days a week has to be part of my schedule to make the weight come off and stay off, no ifs ands or buts about it. It has always been like that with me my whole life. The minute I stop doing my cardio the weight starts to creep back on. You have to remember its not the pill that is going to make you lose weight, its you and the habits you develop. Simply working out from time to time isnt going to cut it if you really want to do this the right way, you need to make a commitment to a healthy lifestyle that includes working out and making healthy food choices. A lot of us havent been blessed with a naturally high metabolism (hence why we are all on Phen lol). As far as the tummy thing, I am going to guess its your sodium intake. Look at your food journals and see what you ate the day before you were so bloated. If you are eating those frozen meals or anything packaged it could be the culprit. I pretty much have next to no sodium in my diet so I reatin water BAD if I eat something high in salt. And if you arent keeping track of everything that you are putting in your body, then start. Its usually an eye opening expierience for most people. If you have an Iphone or other app capable phone you can download an app where you can track everything. But try switching things up like I did and it might get your body back into losing mode.

I didn't see any weight change for four weeks. I had been exercising 6 days a week. I didn't know what I was doing wrong. Two weeks ago I decided to try something different. I started taking 5-HTP with the phen and stopped exercising for 2 weeks, so far I have lost 8 pounds. Very weird, I know but when you get desperate you are willing to try anything. I'm going to start doing Slim in Six on Monday and see how that goes. Good luck!!
