Default Why Hello there...

Hi everyone! Im new to phen. Im on my 13th day with it. I started 11/11 and my first check up was 11/18 I had lost 7lbs with the 15mg! YAY.

Well my DR. upped me to the 37.5mg phen bc he asked if I was still craving pasta. And being Italian and used to eating pasta once or twice a week, dang right I wanted it.

This week my scale hasnt moved hardly at all maybe 1-2lbs. Ive been walking and drinking tons of water! Could it be bc TOM?

Also I asked my DR how many calories I should be eating and he says 800-1000 per day NO MORE! This concerns me bc I see everyone talking about how it should be around 1200. He also told me absolutely NO CARBS like bread, pasta, tortillas, crackers, cookies, sweets of any kind.

What do you guys think? My first week I ate btwn 1000-1200 calories and lost but not this week eating btwn 800-1000... I also took the lipotropic shot this week and was told this would really kick some butt! But Im not so sure now...

Im just really concerned since tomorrow 11/24 is my weigh in I dont want to let myself down. I exercised and have been drinking lots of water I even have been putting lemon in it.

Any Ideas?

Hi and welcome! Yeah, that first week's loss is awesome! It doesn't last though; weight drops off slowly, 1-2lbs is pretty darn good. I weigh daily so I know the scale fluctuates, but the overall trend is down.

I've read countless pieces of advice of the boards saying "up the calories"; I'm a big believer in that. The body needs nourishment not punishment. This has been where Phen was such a godsend: I could eat, but then feel full and want to stop eating. I could be hungry but wait until I was able to eat a good meal, rather than grabbing a quick snack to hold me over.

My current low-carb diet came as the result of starting with an eating plan of "no white foods" (sugar, white flour, etc.) and gradually I found that I wanted less carbohydrates in general. I still make Basmati rice and barley, but am happy with much smaller quantities. And now here I am on a low-carb diet. I'm still surprised, but it just sort of happened. And even more bizarrely, my sweet tooth left as well.

Good luck as you figure out what's right for you. There's lots of different eating strategies used successfully by people on the board; try them on, if it fits, great, if not, try something else. Keep learning from your own body as to what it really needs. See you around the boards.

I'm no doc but from everything I've read, it doesn't seem right, at only 800-1000 calories your body is probably going into starvation mode and holding onto everything it can. Congrats on the success so far, I hope you get this figured out.

Alot of people here have said that the 1st week the weighloss is higher and then it slows down after that. You would need to eat more if you are exercising

mscasanova, Hi there...reading this post is like reading a story of my life. LOL. I started on 11/11, lost 7 lbs the 1st week, lost on 2 the 2nd, and had TOM.

Personally my weight always fluctuates for like 10 days around my TOM, so I'm trying not to worry about it. You will also loose a lot of water weight initially, and losing 1-2 lbs a week is great and healthy. This is so much better than 4 wks ago when I was working out and not losing any.

Also if you are working out with weights you will lose fat and gain muscle (which weighs more than fat) but you will lose inches not lbs.

Since we are in the same boat, you might not place any value to what I am say, but I know that even with only 9.8 lbs gone in 2 wks, pants that used to squeeze the life out of me are a little loser today and that's what matters.

It's not just 9 lbs lost...IT'S 9lbs LOST FOR GOOD!!!!
I didn't gain 60 lbs over night, I can't lose it over night.

Thanks Guys!

I just got back from the Dr. and my blood work results came in. Im borderline hypothyroid. Which I already had a feeling about. The scale said I lost 1.1lbs... BUT he did this little figuring thing and I actually lost 4.9 lbs of fat but gained 3.9lbs back in MUSCLE! I felt ALOT better about myself. He said Im doing AMAZING! and his nurse said she has never heard him say that. [even if shes fibbing a little, I felt good about it] So he is putting me on some natural supplements for my thyroid. Anybody use Atomic Iodine?

I asked him about the 800-1000 calorie thing and he said I should be fine bc Im eating LOTS of protein and fresh veggies. So my body wont feel like its starving bc I am eating, just eating all the right stuff.

He kept telling me stay positive mentally and I can do this. And to remember the more muscle I build the more fat I will lose.

Here is hoping week 3 goes great!

Holy Guacamole! A doctor who took the extra two minutes to do a more accurate assessment of your overall progress? He's a keeper!

Congratulations on your true progress.
