Metformin

Hi everyone!

I started taking phen about 6 weeks ago and am only down 10 lbs. 5 of it was lost in like the first few days. I went to my doctor today and he was not at all impressed about me only losing 10lbs. He said we are going to keep on the phen and add another medication to "put my metabolism where it should be." He added metformin. Has anybody taken this before? He said my weightloss should be a lot faster.

i never heard of it you should google it... 10lb is a good weight loss everybody loses weigh differently stay motivatated to reach your goal

I never heard of it before but i hope it works for you!....by the week you should of lost like 20-25 pounds, but it depends you might lose way more in the second month, dont get discourage

Isn't that for high blood pressure or diabetes?

Yeah, he said it was. He said the 2 medicines together would make my metabolism be at the "ideal" rate for my age and thus make me drop the weight faster. I just haven't found anything that says that yet or heard from anybody on if it works. He gave me a 2 month script for it and a 2 month script for the phen.

My boyfriend takes metformin for his diabetes. Hey make sure you keep us updated on how that works out for you! Okay so I am dealing with one of the side effects from Phen...can't sleep!!!!!!!!!!!! It is Sunday morning at 12:36a, and can't sleep!
I can't believe that there isn't anyone else up!?!

I started phen about 2 wks. ago. I also take metformin for polycystic ovary syndrome. I think that metformin will help, the pharmacist told me that they give it to diabetic patients for weight loss. I was taking my metformin everyday when I take my phen. I lost 11 lbs. in about 10 days. I stopped taking the metformin for about 5 days because I seen on the internet that it said that some diabetic medicines could cause a decrease or increase in the effects of the phen. I really don't know why I stopped taking it because my doctor said it would be fine to take it with the phen. Sorry this is a book. I have not lost a single pound since I quit taking the metformin. I started taking it again yesterday so I hope it starts to help again. Also what dosage are you on? I am on the lowest dose for another month and then I have to go back to the obgyn to have it raised. I wish you the best of luck and hopefully it will work for you.

i have pcos also and i have taken it off and on for a few years(by my own ignorance). the side effects can be less than diserable. my dr told me it is totally safe though with the phen and i also take prozac. well im supposed to take them all and i have hypo thyroid also. so my dr jokes that i got the short and chubby end of stick. haha i just have to start making myself take my meds.
