Default Anyone else on Thyroid meds?

Hey so my lab work is back and my doc says that I have a sluggish thyroid and is also going to perscribe Amour Throid pills as well. Has anyone her took any meds for thier thyroids and is it this brand? How did you feel after a month or two because I heard that is when you will see improvements? Did you have energy and did it help with weight loss? Later down the line we will also target my hormone problem with pogesterone so who know what to expect later down the road. So far I'm loosing weight with the phentermine and I stoped taking metformin under my doc's advice right now. I'm loosing slow but at least I'm loosing right?

I am also on Armour thyroid rather than the synthetic type. I am at a low dose, and it seems to be helping my engery level. I did start on Armour before I went on the Phentermine, but then I broke my foot and I am now non-weight bearing for 8-12 weeks, can't excerise or work out or even walk without crutches. You have to take the Armour on an empty stomach in the AM with a glass of water, then wait an hour before you can eat or take any other meds. I can't take the Armour at night it keeps me up!

this is a post i post earlier about i had to switch meds for weight loss because the adipex and fastin stop working
i to is on diethylpropion 75mg i was on fastin and apidex they work for a while i started on those march 08 then i switch to the other for a few months and that stop working then i switch to diethylpropion 75mg in may 08 but i started off weighting 225lb in march but i was not feeling anything after a while so now i am 189lbs so now this better. but i am hypothyriodism so that makes a different no side effects so hopeful we can keep the forum going if there is any more user out there join in .but maybe if those othes meds is not working maybe people need to try others and see what works for them after 2 months if it not working try something else because everybody is not the same . so good luck

I take levothyroxine (synthroid) and the 37.5 Phen, I was already on the thyroid meds and had only lost 10 lbs since April (I was at 197). That is when my PCP put me on the Phen, to "jump start" my weight loss. I have now lost 40 lbs since April, so 30 or that was on Phen.

I also take levothyroxine. I just started taking phen again today, and I started the thyroid meds again last month. Three years ago I used both levothyroxine and phen and lost 45lbs in 4 months, however, two years ago I stopped taking both the levothyroxine and phen, and gained all of it back in two years When I first got off of the phen I continued to take my thyroid meds and I was able to maintain my weight. When I stopped the thyroid too, I started to gain. I now realize that I am always going to need to take thyroid medication if I want to stay at my ideal weight. I'm starting on the phen again to get me where I need to be.

    Default I take levothyroxine.

    I take levothyroxine.

Drinking some cities water does not help it. The calcium in the water blocks the effects of levothyroxine.

I herd you could just take regular iodine and rub it on say your stomach. The iodine gets absorbed by your skin. That’s supposed to help. Some people need t3 and t4 meds together. I will try to get my doctor to let me have both.

    Default I want Armour® Thyroid

    Armour® Thyroid
provides 38 mcg levothyroxine (T4) and 9 mcg liothyronine (T3) per grain of thyroid.
So in theroy it is the best one.

    It covers two hormones.

I want to swicth to Armour® Thyroid. Levothyroxine ****s. Been on it 12 months and still feel lousy.

Vitamin C improves oral absorption of the thyroid hormone replacement drug levothyroxine.

Take a one gram Tablet of Vitamine C at the same time.

It helps break down drug into blood stream.

    Default Levothyroxine

I have been on levothyroxine for approximatley a year now. The dosage is only .05 mcg, but it has helped me so much! They say that the thyroid medication can also cause weight gain, but i have been using it paired with the phentermine, and lost 35 pounds. That was about a year ago!

Started taking phentermine again, going to get back on a workout schedule and really tone up my body! (Going to Mexico for Christmas, and I want to look amazing!)

    Thanks!
    xoxo

I first started on Levothyroxine and I felt just ok on it, switched to Armour thyroid because it has T3 and T4 in it and wow what a difference! It is also better for your body, no kidney damage like the other non-natural thyroid meds. It is also cheaper if you don't have insurance. When somebody tells me they take thyroid meds I tell them to try Armour, not one person has complained and went back to the non-natural types. Good luck with whatever you decide.

    Hi Everyone!

In August I had a total thyroidectomy done because of my hyperthyroidism. I was put on synthroid. Finally, Oct. 15 I was placed on armour thyroid (I have worked my way up to 105mg) and adipex. I feel 10X better. I have been on adipex 37.5 mg since then ( I have lost 7 lbs in 3 weeks). I feel I could be doing more but I have cheated on my eating. I hope to lose 10 lbs in my first month.

I would love to convert everyone to at least TRY Armour, cheaper, better and less side effects on your body. I am so happy for you, you are doing great. I will never go back to the synthic types of thyroid meds.

    Default Results??

I was kind of eery but I know I gotta take control and help my body. I have been taking Amour now for almost 2 weeks. I don't feel a difference and I'm only taking 0.5 right now. My doctor is starting me slow and then will increase the dosage as nessecary. But I'm still so fatigued... During the day I'm okay...maybe cause of the phentermine but I could probably sleep all day if I wasn't taking the phentermine. I have low thyroid and dry skin, PCOS, thinning hair...blah blah. But I am correcting one thing at a time. My question for those who specifically take Amour, is how long did you feel a change? I was told it could take a month or two and to me, that's kind of a long time, but still I don't know what to expect. Should this increace my metabolism and help assist in weight loss as well? Thanks for all your support and with your shared experience I feel that I am taking the best thyroid pills. We will get through this together!! Thanks my Phen Phrends!!!

Yup it takes about 6-8 weeks to feel the full effect because the meds build up in your system. I know that seems like a long time, but give it a chance and you will love the outcome. My doc also started me on the lower dose, but that is because the Armour has T3 and T4, so it works a differently than the other kinds. It won't increase your metablosim too much, but it will give you energy, I don't need naps anymore I love it!
With more energy comes moving around and the energy to excerise, hang in there, your health will thank you later.
