Question Losing inches and no pounds
I have been on phentermine 37.5 for a months and have only lost like 2 pounds but i have lost a total of 20 inches. Is this normal or is any one else having this problem? And does any one have any good workout advice for me? I allready walk and do the the biggest loser 2 dvd everyday. and watch and count all my calories. i weigh 233 lbs and eat 1600 cal or less in a day. any advice will be appreciated.

Wow, 20"?! That's fabulous!

Wish I could give you suggestion on what's causing you not to see the scale move, but I'm trying to find out the same thing. I know it's hard not seeing the scale move but you ARE loosing!. The tape & your clothes are proof of that.

There's so many factors to look at. Could be age related (younger people tend to loose MUCH faster), what types of foods you're eating, if you're drinking enough (water is the best), how much your salt intake is (makes you retain water), etc. Sounds to me you're doing great otherwise though. Again, 20"? I wish "I" could say the same!

I'm sure some of the seasoned Phensters here will be able to help you with better ideas. Until then...

Keep up the good work!

The older you get, the tougher it is to lose weight because by then, your body and your fat are really good friends.

20 inches is awesome! you should be thrilled! I have been taking phen for 5 weeks now and when I hit the 4 week marker I had stopped losing weight....I had lost 4 inches in the waist and 3 inches in the hips and only 8 pounds in one month!...I was also bummed...my doctor told me not to worry about it, I was still losing inches and that was great! He advised me to change my excecise routine and so I did over a week ago and guess what? I lost 4 pounds in one week! I do a different kind of cardio every day and the days I lift weights I only do cardio for 20 minutes but I increased the incline if I'm on the treadmill so I get a very intense/hard workout for those 20 minutes same goes for the eliptical machine...i increase the resistance and boy you sure get an intense workout for those 20 minutes! I have seen a BIG difference on the scale this past week! I'm thrilled!

My advice to you is change it up! do something different in your excercise workout to get your body to wake up...your body gets used to the same old workout so you need to get it into turbo mode! Try it for a week and see if it makes a difference.
Keep me posted!

Softbll4ever is right about changing it up! You're body is very smart and catches on quickly to repetitive motions. Keep things fresh and you will benefit from it! Now.....about the inches.......are you Crazy, with a capital C???? Ask yourself this when you are feeling down about hardly any weight loss, but a TON of inches.........Would I rather be 230 lbs and a size 8, or 125 lbs and a size 20? Inches are the real winner in the end!!! If you are building muscle, then it is going to weigh more. 3x more! But you're getting fit and toned and melting fat away, so you look great! Please, please, please remember this. You are doing fantastic! If you know you are doing everything right.......eating healthy, exercising for at least 30 mins. a day, drinking a minimum of 10 glasses of water a day, and not putting a lot of sugar in, then just keep doing what you're doing.....you're getting healthier.........the pounds will catch up eventually! I think your workout is great. Keep it up! I walk 2 miles on Tue. Thurs. and Sat. and do pilates. And on Mon. Wed and Fri, I do strength training.

Good Luck to you!

Lost 9 lbs prior.
