Default Experiencing a setback
I've been on phentermine for 2 weeks and 4 days. I was so optimistic about cutting back on my food intake and having more energy for exercise and that exercise helping to burn even more calories. However, one week into this, i was playing volleyball with some friends and made a clumsy move...and tore my medial collateral ligament (MCL), grade 3 damage. So, now I'm in this giant leg brace, hobbling around looking like Forrest Gump as a kid. I've only lost 4 lbs so far. Since I can't be as mobile as i hoped, any thoughts out there as to how I can maximize the benefits of phentermine for the next 2 weeks? My doc will only prescribe 30 days at a time.

I'm so sorry to hear that! Your leg needs rest. I would completely skip exercise until it healed. Of course I'm not a medical professional and I love excuses to get out of exercise! 4lbs is great. You don't have as much weight to lose as some of us. So the loss will be a little slower. Keep watching your diet. Try not to get bored and mindlessly munch. For me diet is 80% of the answer, exercise is only 20%. But like I said I'm not a medical professional and I love to have an excuse not to exercise!

Thanks! I'm not hungry most of the time, which does help. I guess i'll make sure I keep drinking my water and being careful what i do eat. It seems that your weight and goal is fairly similar to mine. How slow or fast is the weight loss for you right now? Do you think it's realistic that i can lose another 6 lbs by Sept. 1st? Thanks for your advice!

Yes I think you can lose 6lbs. I lost 19 lbs this month. I'm losing about 3lbs a week. And I eat a little of everything just in moderation. I even eat chocolate every single day! One wk I didn't take my phen and had a lot of stress going on. I gained 6lbs. So I probably could have lost more if that hadn't happened! I figure I'll lose 5 or 6lbs by Sept. 1st. I'm also losing inches. Last wk I lost 3inches on my waist and 2 on my hips. In just one week! Give me a update on the 1st. Let's see if we did lose the 6lbs!

Sorry to hear about that

Can you do some upper body workouts? Something is better than nothing and you will be building muscle, which will burn more calories.

Just eat clean, and hopefully you can can the weight off before 9/1. Just don't be too hard on yourself... do the best you can Good luck!

Thanks, ladies! I appreciate the tips and the encouragement. It's great to hear of your successes and I feel more optimistic now. I will do some upper body strength excercises and try to do some abdominals too. I used to have a great routine before i left CT last year and moved back to the South. I'll just see what I can do that won't put strain on my leg. I'm just really eager for this stuff to keep working for me. I started weight watchers last summer, and lost 13 lbs by october. By spring, it was all back because it was so hard to discipline myself. I was just too hungry, and it makes me crazy!! It's hard enough that I am such a foodie (love to eat good food, love to cook and create, invent, raise vegetables, read about food...food, food, FOOD!). I feel like I can now appreciate food more without having to eat so much of it and eat everything I think looks/sounds good. I'm going to do it this time! I'll let you know how it's going by the 1st.
