Default Hello!
Hi,

I am Erin, a stay at home mama of 2 toddlers. My little girl is 3.5 and my son is 2!

I had two kids in two years. I had gestational diabetes with my son, so I was on a strict diet and insulin shots. I ended up only gaining 7 lbs that pregnancy and he weighed 9! I was at a good weight at that time, but I have gained 40 lbs in the last two years. Not good. I have been very tired lately, get hot flashes and have gained the weight. I went to the dr to get bloodwork to see if I am low on iron, thyroid issues or what, and the doctor gave me a script for phentermine! Didn't ask for it, bring it up, nothing. Don't get me wrong, I am happy to have it.

I am not sure how it works, though. I know it is an appetite suppressant. Today is my first day on it and I feel like I am on speed, kinda. I can only compare the feeling to when I took Xendrine with ephedra about 5 years ago. That of course wasn't good and I had irregular heart beat and heart palpitations. It was taken off the market but I did lose at least 30-40 lbs on it. So, my question is does it speed up the metabolism as well as supress the appetite?

I am looking forward to getting to know everyone. Gotta get my daughter to an art class and then go to Walmart for a few things. We are having my son's 2nd birthday party this afternoon!

Welcome to the list.. I think everyones reaction is a bit different.. I know my first week I felt very hyper, and even a bit floaty the first day or two, but most of that went away .... i do still feel the energy boost for the most part. From what I have felt it does a little of the energy boost, and a little of the appetite suppression... and as long as you eat right, get lots of exercise and try and drink 64 ounces or more of water each day you will see some results. I also make it a point never to eat anything after about 6 or 7 in the evenings.
Good Luck!!!!

Hi Erin...I took my first pill this past Monday and today will be day 5 for me!
I know exactly how you feel! I didn't know what to expect and holy cow! I felt so energized and was going at a warp speed lol! My tongue was sticking to the roof of my mouth (dry mouth) and kept drinking water like CRAZY! which of course is what you want to do. My apetite has been pretty much totaly gone since I took that first pill.
I have to make myself eat at meal times and remember to have a healthy snack a few times a day but other then that it's been real easy so far(keeping my fingers crossed).

Were about the same weight you and I...Dr. weighed me on 8/4/08 and I was at 202. My goal is 160 just like you! I did lose 10lbs on my own and that was why my Doc prescribed me the script. I had no ideal going in to see my Doc that I would be leaving his office on a high...high on excitement that he was giving me a tool to achieve my goal to lose weight!!! Boy I'm excited!!!

I might cheat and weigh myself this coming up Monday...I was going to wait until my next doc visit on the 19th but heck....I have been walking 2 miles a day on the treadmill this week for a total of 10 miles! I also decided to do 100 crunches a day...oh and I have a camelback water bottle that holds 24oz of water so I know that I have to drink at least 4-5 of those but I've been drinking more like 6 of those because I have been sweating like crazy when I'm walking(more like cardio because I set the treadmill to go up steep hills half way through the walk!).

Hey if your looking for a budding...let me know!

Hi Erin, and welcome!!! I took Xenadrine for over a year and it really messed me up. My heart will never be the same... this is a similar feeling, but not as bad. Eventually I barely noticed it... probably after the first 5 days or so. It really does help suppress the appetite though, I am never hungry... I force myself to get something in me every few hours and it isn't always easy! I love it Good luck to you!!!

Hello Erin. Welcome! I have been on phen 3 weeks and I never got the "high" feeling others talk about. Also, my appetite has never been surpressed???? I'm still hungry a lot, Most of the time actually. But I do get the energy, but only when I do something to get it started. If I'm sitting around, I will never get it. Have to jump start it. Best of luck to you!!!!
